Stayed with my family in a room with a single bed and a double bed. Excellent value for Dinner bed breakfast and bottle of wine package. First room smelt of smoking but the receptionist found us another. (surprised any family rooms were designated smoking) Buffet meals were good. Impressed that the complimentary wine arrived on ice. Externally, the Britannia Bolton might not have the most exciting frontage and in places it could do with sprucing up but it is presentable enough, has ample parking, is set back from the road and free from traffic noise. Reception was efficient and pleasant and our request for a non-smoking room was quickly met. (NB. English hotels still allow smoking... More

I only stayed one night but could not fault anything about the hotel I had bed breakfast and evening meal with a free bottle of wine. The food was very good at both meals, The service was very good and the room was one of the best we have stayed in. The previous night we stayed in a hotel not... More

OK if I'd paid over a £100 for it I would probably have given it 3 stars but I didn't. I paid £20.84 for a Friday night and £37 for a Saturday. At those prices the Britannia represents tremendous value. First impressions however are not favourable. The outside of the building looks jaded with peeling paint and decaying concrete. One... More

4 off us went with National Coach Trips and it was a very pleasant hotel, food was very nice although could have been a little hotter but it was ok. Staff very nice. The rooms were fine they were clean which is the main thing. All in all a very pleasant hotel and a very pleasant weekend. More

Well. This hotel was part of a coach trip where we were unfortunate enough to spend one night. The decor is straight out of the 70's with no effort to bring it up to date. We had a first floor room which was quite small but in fairness was reasonably clean (although the fridge did not work). Another of our... More

I stayed at this hotel as part of a break with David Urqhart travel, travelling from here each day to Southport, Liverpool and Chester. The room I was given had been used by a smoker, but I was offered an alternative which was fine. The room was clean and adequate, but could do with updating, as could the outside of... More
