Good, private, motel-type rooms and an excellent restaurant serving good food next door. Location beside the canal and close to nature with some decent walking in the vicinity especially down by the River Darwen was just right for me. Handy for the motorway, but far enough away from it to avoid the traffic noise. More

We stayed at The Boatyard due to my friends birthday celebrations. We felt as though we were really looked after. Check in was easy from the bar and we were taken to our room. The room was a good size with a massive bed and lovely bathroom. The rooms look as though they are newly decorated with new furnishings. The... More

We have just returned from spending a night here. Loved the little rooms which are separate from the pub/restaurant so no noise here. The room was clean and modern but I loved the bathroom. A separate bath and rainforest shower which I did not want to leave. I have no complaints about staying here and would love to return in... More

Try the starter platers! They're really nice. Service is always of a high standard. Food is always great. There's a nice coffee shop bit you can have a warm drink before going into the restaurant and having a meal. More

my wife and i called in at the boatyard on our way back home from garstang and sat in the coffee lounge where we ordered a light lunch of soup and sandwich ,scone and coffee.one word of warning-only order one soup and sandwich between two people because the portions are very generous and it must be said that the quality... Nice meal, polite friendly service at the bar, waitresses need a bit of training, was surprised its a bit tired it is inside. Needs an upgrade, pics on Web don't represent the actual venue. Hope new management upgrade it. More

book to stay here after having a meal on the canal, checked in the afternoon, no problem, lovely room, clean, massive bathroom with separate shower and bath, usual tea and coffee, tv. Took a walk along the canal. Breakfast is paid separately, value for money as a stop over, would stop again. cant comment on evening meal. More

Just had a meal at the Boat Yard, found a bug on the plate under the food, pointed it out to the waitress who only commented 'Oh it;s a fly' before flicking it onto the floor and walking off - not even an apology! Perhaps deep fried bugs are usually extra?!. More

Arrived about 6pm. You have to check-in at the bar, which was two deep ond only one person serving (though several staff were in sight chatting behind the glass washing area). Not a good start. The room itself was beautiful, large, comfortable, good wet room, value for money I'd say. Evening meal however was a nightmare. Between us there were... More
