My husband and I have just returned from an amazing two night stay here and it was worth every penny. We can only repeat what other people have said – the house was beautiful, the food delicious and the service faultless. James has obviously spent a lot of time and effort getting everything just right and we really appreciated his... More

So glad you enjoyed spending the Easter Weekend here. I think the Easter Bunny should put in an appearance every Sunday morning, although with the breakfast, cake & chocolate it might not do much for NHS targets! James More

The title sums up our stay at the Ashton! We could not fault it. James is the perfect host. We could not understand how he managed to do everything so well all of the time and appear so relaxed throughout! The welcome was lovely, our bags were taken from the car and we were sat down with coffee and biscuits... More

After a long journey we were met by James offering us a glass of wine. Much appreciated. The hotel was fine, the rooms were fine and the food was fine. Excellent? Not quite. Would I recommend it? Yes. I have stayed in similar hotels in London and had better service..The Fox Club..in Mayfair for instance. After all the hype I... More

Glad you enjoyed the wine after the long journey & would recommend The Ashton. Just sorry the Valentine’s night you spent here didn’t leave you feeling the love it should have. Whilst I never claim or want to be a boutique hotel I do try my hardest to be the best B&B I can. Breakfast is all locally sourced &... More

Hi Cathryn, So pleased you had a relaxing stay. The Attic Room is perfect for that, loads of space, large bath & super king size bed. Hope you find a reason to visit again soon - or why not just invent one! James More

Just returned from a stay at The Ashton and honestly cannot fault it. From the moment my colleague and I arrived in the evening after a long drive from Scotland, we were welcomed by James who was a fantastic attentive host. Being 5 months pregnant I had a strong craving for a curry so my colleague and I decided to... More

Dear Dollops, So lovely to read your review (although I knew you liked it as you'd booked to stay again before you left.) In my previous career I spent a lot of time traveling with work and was away from home most week nights. I know it can be a pretty miserable missing family & familiar surroundings. So I try... More

I only stayed here one night with some colleagues and I have to say it is a beautiful hotel and must be visited to be appreciated. I have stayed in quite a few hotels an this by far beats them all. It is definately on power with the Sofitel hotel I stayed in, while in Rome in January. James is... More

I've just got back from a weekend stay at The Ashton, and it surpassed my expectations in every way. A quick summary then: Rooms and decor - fabulous. The whole hotel is beautifully decorated, and the guest rooms and the bathrooms are amazing. There are lots of nice little touches that all contribute to the feeling that this is a... More

Many details combined to make this a perfect overnight stay on our way from Kent to Scotland. We appreciated them all, from proper cafetiere coffee with fresh milk - bliss - to an indulgent bathroom and Dolly Mixtures on the dressing table. The welcoming plum vodka was a lovely touch on a cold day and much enjoyed. Breakfast was everything... More

Had been trying to stay here for ages but always booked - and now I know why. Finally we got lucky and had two delicious relaxing days here. It was just before Christmas and were welcomed by the ducks first and then Chris with mulled wine and christmas pies. The room was huge, wonderful comfortable bed and a massive sexy... More

So pleased you had a great stay, especially after not being able to get in the first few times. I can always manage to rustle something up for dinner. We have some great local food producers so putting together platters of smoked fish, meats & cheeses is never difficult. But as it was a cold December night I thought a... More
