Overpriced horrible food served by a pompos dishonest owner/chef! The "chef" consistently lied to our party telling us items were not available or only served for two then the dish would miraculously show up at the next table. He bullied people into get getting his specials like Guinea "fool", berry soup, or flan that where beyond pathetic. I was served... More

Snobby place with rubbish food at a price you will not believe. Do not go there unless you have remortgaged your house and want to waste all the money and you don't mind a pontificating chief telling you how wonderful he is (not) and have the waitress empty the crumbs from your bread plate in your lap ! Other reviews have already said it all in both English and French: obligation to buy overpriced bottled water, mediocre cuisine, odious chef/owner, way overpriced. I'll add that we were sickened to see how the waiters and apprentices were treated. The last straw was when customers had to line up like school children in front of the owner to pay the... More

The rooms are spartan, the walls are thin, it might be too expensive. But it was a great experience and we would stay again. Dinner was delightful, breakfast was terrific. Alain is a charming host. More

Their rating of two forks and a Bib Gourmand is well deserved. If I could, I would rate it higher - at least one star. Chef Alain Renaudin is unquestionably a showman (I ordered Turbot and he presented the entire massive fish tableside before he prepared it), but the experience is all the more memorable for that. The dining room... More

As pelgrims on bicycle we could have the menu from the afternoon in the evening. We sat at the little wooden table where also the chef had his evening diner. We ordered water, as is normal in France en the house wine. On the bulletin board was the wine 2,20 per glass. On the bill there was 4,50 for the... More

It might be a great little hotel, but the restaurant is awful. The chef is a bloviating bunco artist; the food was insanely pedestrian; the prices were stratospheric. The cheese came complete with... live maggots. When we pointed this out to the maitre d', she airlily dismissed our concerns by saying, en effet, "Well what do you expect when you... More

We (two couples) were doing a tour of Burgundy, and had arranged by email to stay two nights at Les Tilleuls. We chose this Hotel (using Trip Advisor) as it was not outrageously priced, close to the town of Auxerre, and to the wine producing areas of Chablis and Irancy. Les Tilleuls is a pretty buiding in in the village... More

We arrived by bicycle at 2:30 pm on a beautiful sunny afternoon, having had no luck finding a restaurant to our liking in the course of our ride through this rural area. The kindly chef/proprietor explained to us that all restaurants in the region close at 2 pm. Seeing our disappointment, he asked us if we like cheese and pate.... More

In a quick visit to Burgundy region we were very happy with our overnight and dinner at the Auberge le Tilleuls. Hotel is convenient for visiting Auxerre (a fascinating town) and Chablis and is on the route from Auxerre south to Vezaley, which passes through many interesting small towns. The Auberge is an old inn, facing a quiet canal in... More
