This small hotel is usefully located a couple of junctions south of Auxerre and offers plenty of parking for those making the journey from the channel ports down to the south of France. Lovely building - with rooms suitable for families with 2 kids :-) Secure car park and easy walk to local restaurants - we always use the Pizza de la Tour! More

Our stay in Avallon started out a bit inauspiciously - bad weather, not the nicest ride into town, and some early plumbing problems at Vauban - but was all uphill from there. The weather cleared, the town turned out to be quite nice (especially towards the old cathedral and tower), and the nice people at Vauban smacked our toilet into... More

I enjoyed a stay at the Hotel D’Avallon Vauban from March 27th to March 30th, 2008. The hotel worked as a great base for exploring Avallon and the surrounding countryside. The walk to the clock tower and Lazare church in Avallon took about 15 minutes. The drive to Vezleay was about 15 minutes and to Semur-en-Auxois was about 30 minutes.... More
