I reserved a room in February including a credit card number to hold the reservation. When I arrived in mid-May, the Hotel Saint Merry was CLOSED, shut-down, and boarded up. Their web site is online and STILL taking reservations. I was never contacted by the Saint Merry about their closure or even possible closure. So, I arrive after 15 hours... More

We stayed there 2 years ago and enjoyed every moment of it. If you are looking to get a real Paris flavor and feel like you are basically sleeping in the midst of history - this is a place for you. Rooms with gothic furnishings take you back in time, art on every wall in every corner throughout the hotel... More

Keeping in mind that we choose location and charm over comfort and convenience, Hotel St. Merry was an excellent choice for our four-day stay in Paris. Just across the bridge in the Marais district, from the Rive Gauche and Notre Dame de Paris and surrounded by interesting shops and restaurants, this hotel's location cannot be beat. And at 160 euros... More

This is an unusual hotel, but while acknowledging that not everyone will love it, we did. It's a converted rectory for the church next door and all the rooms are funky, unusual and interesting. We were able to view about 5 rooms and every one was different. We really enjoyed our room (a Superior Double). The furnishings are "vintage", but... More

Do you want a funky hotel in a great location at a reasonable price in Central Paris? Then this is the place for you -- complete with a winding star and a gothic atmosphere. However, if you need everything with sharp edges and hospital clean, this is not for you. Also, accept that you're in the heart of Paris and... More

We spent two nights at the St Merry in mid-September. We stayed in a double room on the top floor which was very comfortable with a nice view. No elevators though so be prepared for a steep climb up several flights of narrow stairs. The private bathroom was large and spotlessly clean. We arrived and departed from Orly airport which... More

The St. Merry is acceptable overall, even pleasing. Rooms are shabby, but clean and the service is gruff, but caring. The price was relatively high, but the location is wonderful. Electrical service in the rooms is antique. A serious downside was the itchy rash that I woke up with on the second morning there. On the way home from the... More

I read mixed reviews but the location seemed so good I took a chance. The hotel was perfectly fine. A little worn but in a charming way. Our room was good sized and the bathroom was very large by European standards. It was perfectly clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The location couldn't be better. I thought... More

The hotel looks fantastic in the pictures, but the truth is that its 3 star rating must be old and certainly in peril. The hotel is tired, shabby and run down and not value for money. Even the romantic nature of its old rooms are lost - the furniture looks like tired repro and the fitments are poor - awful... More

We stayed here in late August on a weekend break, and loved how close the hotel was to Notre Dame, la Conciergerie/Sainte-Chapelle and a short walk to the Louvre and on to the Champs-Élysées. Despite being in the middle of le marais, the room was reasonably quiet. We stayed in #9 - the one with 2 flying buttresses stretching through... More
