I ended up paying more than what was discussed, the food was not fresh and the rooms are not well maintained at all. The hotel is in a busy side street just beside the Luxembourg Park and the Luxembourg metro station, which links you directly to both international airports of Paris. Rooms are very basic, some without shower. Old and somewhat poorly maintained but the location is good. If you're willing to tolerate noise and discomfort at night, and need to be in walking distance from many major POIs, do consider this one.

I stayed in the Hotel Gay Lussac for two nights a few weeks ago and found it a thoroughly pleasant experience. The rooms were clean and well-equipped and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good too. Taking into account its location and low price, I would definitely recommend this hotel.
