Never come here, the receptionist offered me cocaine on the way in. Often drug deals in the hallway, gun shots heard in the room next to me. One night I ended up sleeping in my car because that was safer than the hotel. The only reason I gave it one star is because I was forced to or they would come after me.

I cannot begin to describe the disgusting, dangerous and totally unacceptable accommodation this ‘hotel’ attempts to offer. We paid €170 for 2 nights and couldn’t stay in our room for more than 10 mins. The electrics hanging over the bed were downright dangerous (as was the extension lead hanging down from the telly stored on top of a wardrobe). It was a case of edging in the door sideways to try and reach the bed - the temperature was stifling (our room was on the top floor in the roof space), and the ‘shower room’ - aka mouldy, tiny horrendous cubicle with a broken shower hose was on the floor below (and if you were brave enough to even contemplate entering) you were sharing it with at least 7 other rooms....We checked out immediately and booked into another hotel for the same price with a large AC room with swimming pool & lovely breakfast. We booked through booking.com whose only response was ‘didn’t we check reviews before booking’.....actually yes, we usually do but on this one occasion we were stupid enough to believe booking.com would be professional enough to not have such unacceptable accommodation on their books.....lesson learnt - please learn from us! I

If you were to compare this to Carlton, then, yes, a 1....this is only a 1 or 2 star hotel, but located across the street from station. Me and my friend both liked it. Good quality for price...less than 50 euros for Cannes is a steal, especially during yoght festival. I live in Europe and know air conditioning is hard to find unless you do chain hotels that cater to Americans. Staff was very nice. All in all a great place.

The only hotel with availability due to a conference in town. Opposite the bus station it was dirty, smelly and noisy. It was such an unpleasant experience and faced with the option again I'd rather sleep in a cardboard box on the street.

Nothing has changed since the last reviewer. I ended up in the Hotel du Nord through a mix up during a busy time leading up to one of the Cannes conferences. I arrived very late - too late to leave straight away, which is what anyone greeted by the room I was to spend the next few hours, should do. It stank - a mix of old tobacco, dirt and general dereliction. When I say it stank, it was almost overpowering. My immediate thought was that when the owners weren't in the business of trying to fleece conference visitors, the room had some kind of function in temporary housing for people who are really struggling with life, incontinent and living on the street. The truth of this, I have no idea. The room was an almost perfect study in neglect and lack of investment. The blankets were worn, with some evidence of some kind of burns, the toilet flush handle was detached, the shower was broken, so you had to hold it to get any kind of water coverage. Above, black mould covered the shower pipe. The one plug socket was loose and sparked when I pulled the plug out - its ability to charge a phone was intermittent. The soap was quite possibly the cheapest in the entire world, and the crowning glory was the towel - so old and worn that it actually had a substantial hole in the middle of it. It was incredibly noisy. I found myself with the interesting choice of trying to close the window and trying to live with the overpowering stench, or leaving it open, and getting the full street life of Cannes drunk late night kebab district, it's major bypass and railway line. The room itself was separated from the adjoining one by a thin stud wall. My neighbour, whoever he may have been, was struggling with a restful nights sleep as much as I was, as he wrestled with a hacking cough so loud it was like sharing the room with him. On the plus side, my brief encounters with the staff, they were friendly enough - but none of them felt like owners, and the sheets were clean. I didn't really like to think of what lay under them. My first priority after a fitful night, where every time i woke the stench seemed to claw at my nostrils, was to get a decent hotel, which I did, and never went back, despite a three night booking of over €400. In a town, not without a sleazy charm, that seems completely at ease with trying to fleece visitors from as much cash as they can - €6 Euros for a glass of late night water in a bar - Hotel du Nord must be one of the clear winners of the rip off charts. It feels to me a disgrace that they can operate.

I spend only 4 hours in that room (if we can call it so) and sincerly this hours were the worst of my entire life... it was so cold, dirty and the smell of smoke was killing me, and I woke up with "new friends" in my bed .. now i have allergy all over my face. Guys , better to pay a little more than to go in such a disgusting place and to have all your face and neck infected

The price from booking.com was different when we went there and checked in. Asked about why the price is different the reception just answered, 'i dont know.' Expensive, not comfy, no hot water, i dont knkw if they are changing the bedsheets, itchy, good we only stayed for a night. Poor wifi connection too.

After seeing on booking.com, the hotel was only $33, I booked it in advance. I knew it wouldn't be anything luxurious at that price, but when we arrived the price had been rammed up to €42. My boyfriend had just left the hospital from an infection and after us both hitchhikng and free camping we felt he really needed a good, warm bed. The woman at the reception was extremely rude upon arrival, and made herself look busy as soon as we approached the desk in a quite apparent, empty hotel. We waited a minute or so until she gave us a 'what do you want?' look. I explained I had booked a room and before I could even say my name, she interrupted and then rolled her eyes and said 'passport??' In a really patronising way. Everything about the way she was, was kind of sarcastic and as if we were a real bother. Even though the hotel was empty, she put us on the fourth floor (right at the top) and furthest away down the corridor, obviously to be as far away from us as possible. Our bedroom was a disgrace. Unclean bedspread, filthy toilet, broken plug sockets, wires hanging off walls. The shower was on the floor downstairs and was absolutely horrendous. In the morning, at 7am, the staff were screaming down the corridors and causing my boyfriend stress as he really needed his recovering sleep. It was a truly awful, overpriced stay and exactly not what we wanted after a terrible day at the hospital. The only ONE good thing is the location. I do not recommend!!!!
