This is the cheapest accommodation in chamonix and is only a short walk from the main street. There is a separate gear storage/ drying room. The dorm room is not spacious but is ample. It is weird that there is a basin in the room as this seems to replace any need for one in the toilets. There are only 3... More

Before we arrived, one staff member (a new staff member from NZ) was very helpful on the phone, gave us the code for the door and left out linen for us (we were arriving late). The room was basic, and a bit cramped with six beds. The corridor was a bit grubby, with a damp carpet running throughout. The toilets... More

Nice small hostel with a good bar and reasonable breakfast downstairs. We were lucky to have one of the atic rooms which was larger and had single beds as opposed to bunk beds. Clean and a short walk into town. However, it is a 20 minute walk to the slopes. Breakfast included Weetabix, Cornflakes, fresh baguette with jams, fresh coffee,... More

I have stayed here in the past , the last time being 3 years ago. The Vaga is, I am sorry to say, going backwards. There is now no food available and the bar was very quiet without the usual buzzing atmosphere. There was a distinct lack of management , the staff being left to there own devices to just... More

Nice small hostel, not a classic hostel as only the only communal areas are the bar. Food great, albeit expensive for what it is. Bar prices are also expensive. But the staff are lovely and our room was tidy and well appointed. I did bang my head 17 times in one week on various parts of the roof though.

I've been staying at this place for years (5 times since 2005), on and off, and the things going wrong with it aren't related to price. Its a lack of care from the two owners who think of customers as cattle. I've stayed in dorms but generally stay in top floor double or 4 man room which are both great... More

Gite vagabond is located in the chamonix sud area and is 5 mins walk from the centre of town and most of the restaurants and shops. The bus station where you catch a bus to take you to all the different skiing areas is only 3-5 mins walk and can be done in ski boots. The gite is lively and... More

I loved this place. First visit to Chamonix and first time on the slopes for at least a decade. Has a real homely feel yet at same time really cool in a grungy eXtreme snowboarder-ey way. Very international. Great staff, comfortable, brilliant food, central location; everything you want for a budget price. Would deffo go back

Stayed there February 2012. Nice staff, good food, decent rooms, good place to put your ski stuff and relatively close to the slopes. However, I woke up to my arms, legs, and face covered in itchy bed bug bites. The staff was able to change my room but I decided to change hotels entirely. They refunded me for the night... More
