Staff has very bad English. My room was not cleaned upon check-in at 3 p.m., so I had to wait for 20 mins. Just upon check-in they promised a quiet room overlooking the yard (they even showed the direction) but I got a room on a noisy street with trams. Woke up at 6 a.m. 3 consecutive days because of... Okay, so the purpose of my visit to Dusseldorf was to attend Drupa, the world's biggest printing tradeshow, which only occurs every 4 years. It attracts around 400,000 attendees, and accordingly accommodation is extremely tight. It appears that every hotel in Dusseldorf triples their rates whenever there's an exhibition on because - well, because they can. The Spichernplatz is no... More

3 stars - it's max. Good breakfast, standard of rooms exactly 3 stars. Much more important, it's clean. More

My wife and I stayed there for four days while attending Prowein. It is a small hotel centrally located near bus routes and you can get the Tram across the street. Rooms are small but maximum use of space make them roomy enough for a couple. The beds are very comfortable and the room, including the bathroom , was spotless! The hotel staff,especially... More

This is a clean, modern and basic hotel. I thought that it was excellent for the price. I booked a 'standard plus single' room, as it was only slightly more than a basic single. Having seen my friend's tiny (but nevertheless perfectly adequate) standard room I am pleased I did - my room was spacious and actually I got a... More

The Hotel Am Spichernplatz is a clean, perfectly nice hotel well outside the center of Dusseldorf in a pleasant outlying medium-density district. Two trams stop right in front of the hotel, one going to the Hauptbahnhof and the other going to the Old Town, so from that standpoint it's convenient. If you're in Dusseldorf on a budget, stay at the... More

I initially stayed in a single room, which was a little bit small, but as my stay was extended for another two weeks I upgraded to "single comfort". Now I stay in a nice room, that is large enough for two. They have a nice and rich breakfast buffet and the staff is friendly. More

Stayed at Spichernplatz during the Boat Show (Jan 2010). The hotel is very simple, room quite small but clean and OK for sleeping. Good breakfast. Sound isolation is not that good - you can hear talking/laughter from the corridor and trams from outside. Location is fine - the tram stop is just near the hotel and it's easy to access... More

I wrapped-up my visit to the big A + A show in Dusseldorf last November. While I spent the bulk of my visit staying at the Villa Viktoria just around the corner (check out my review on that hotel for a same-person / different hotel comparison), I checked into the Spichernplatz for my last night in town. I almost did... More

Average city hotel, nothing very positive and nothing very negative. Free wifi available and a big choice at the breakfast. Unfortunately it's a bit away from the city, but it's good to reach by public transport. More
