Ideal city centre location with instant access to public transportation. The staff was friendly and helpful. A great value with a hot buffet breakfast, free mini-bar, (re-stocked daily) and pass for local public transport. The room was spacious, clean and efficient. I enjoyed my stay and will recommend to others and stay again myself.

I stayed at the City Hotel, in Essen, for a night during my trip to Speil 2011. The hotel was pleasant and the staff were friendly. The single room was nice and the bed was particularly comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was nice though, and this is a personal preference, I'd love to see beans on the menu! Cleaners were...

We needed to be near the University in Essen and this is a two minute walk away. For 80 euros a night we were upgraded to a business suite, had free car parking and wifi and an excellent buffet breakfast. The downside (apart from it being the weekend England were knocked out of the World Cup ... by Germany!) was...
