been there and enjoyed my stay, rooms are ok, value is great 55-65eur. Very close to the train station and walking distance from the market where all the shops and restaurants are located.

Stayed 2 nights with a group of friends. Friendly welcome.
Pretty basic but clean accommodation. My room was over the bar which was busy well in to the night. Bed not very comfortable.
Paid a top price, 114e, maybe as there was a big football game in town. Dear for what it is.
A good central spot in the town....

Too many flaws for a 2-star rating:
* automated wake-up calls 20 minutes late every morning
* buffet food not fresh
* smelly corridors
* room was not cleaned (probably because of broken latch, which constantly indicated that room in occupied)

For a business trip, I need a simple, clean, quiet place and this Ibis Hotel is a perfect place matching all these requirements. I have booked rooms in this hotel for several years and have never been disappointed.

We use the Ibis for travel to the Gelsenkirchenarea for football matches. It is absolutely superb. Clean, functional and good value for money. The staff are always more than helpful and most importantly it is located less than 100m from the main train station.
I would thoruoghly recommend this hotel
