This is a simple one star hotel but it has all that is necessary. It doesn't do breakfast but that can be eaten very cheaply next door. The hotel is on the edge of the old town and not far from the railway station. There is a computer for guest use More

Took this hotel as a last resort, as there was a convention in town. Pluses: There's a cat! Parking is available. Free wi-fi Minuses: -odd smells -not so clean -mediocre service -unprofessional... I had to remind who appeared to be running things that she made me an offer which we agreed upon. The difference was a nominal sum, but the... More

I "planned" (not my strong point) a short trip to Bilbao and surroundings. Normally I pre-book accommodation being too lazy to spend hours trudging round trying to find a place to stay for two days. (In fact the really helpful person at the Bilbao central tourist office would have phoned and booked for me but I wanted to look at... More

We need more places like this in oz - totally relaxed - affordable (read el cheapo for europe) - clean - family run - central - quiet - comfortable beds - what more could one want - oh! - and cheap at half the price. Close by the local pintxos bars (you have to go there to experience one of... More

They showed us to our room which was horrible and had a window that looked into the middle of building and it a disgusting site.... More

My daughter Tapas and I spent just a day in Bilbao last week and Arriaga turned out to be the best hotel we encountered in our month-long tour of Europe. A long and tiring journey from Paris had brought us to the doorsteps of Arriaga and we were instantly made to feel at home by the young bespectacled receptionist who... More

We had booked this hotel on the back of a 2002 Rough Guide review saying that it was the best of the medium hotels in Bilbao. I can only presume that it has lost stars since 2002 as we later discovered that it was only a one star hotel. As very few people in northern Spain speak anything other than... More

Recently, I had the privelege of staying at the charming Arriaga Hotel in Old Bilbao. It is located close to the Vasco Viejo Metro Station. Begona and John who work at the Arriaga Hotel were extremely kind and helpful. They also speak English fairly well and were very knowledgable about Bilbao's two splendid art museums. I paid forty-five euros for... More

I got a single room that overlooked the river. One of the proprietors, Begonia, gave me tips on where to go and where to avoid in Bilbao. One minus was that the hotel turned off the heater at night. Overall, it was a good value. More
