As others have said, the great advantage of this fairly small hotel is its position. One can see it from the airport express bus as it pulls into Atocha Station. You then just cross the road at the traffic-lights. I received a warm and friendly welcome at reception and was able to check in slightly early. The room was clean... More

We were overnighting between train and air connections. The hotel is reasonably priced and very convenient to the Atocha train station (across the intersection). It is also an easy walk with bags to get a bus or the Metro to the airport. The biggest negative for us was wireless. There is no wireless in the room and limited free wireless... More

The hotel is just across the street (well, it is a big street!) from Atocha railway station (and airport bus). The breakfast is excellent with fresh and dried fruit, a bowl of natural youghurt, selection of loose leaf teas etc etc. Our room was small and hadn't much of a view (to say the least) but was dead quiet and... This is NOT a four star hotel as they advertise ........ it's no better than a Holiday Inn or a Comfort Inn! While the lobby may look great, the room we had was pretty average except that the air conditioning did not function and the temperature got up to 27C at one point. They also do not offer free internet... More

The hotel is across the street from Atocha station, so a good base for exploring Madrid and catching trains to other cities...The rooms are very small - with a double bed (I'm using the American version of a double here - so smaller than a queen, but larger than a twin. The problem was no air conditioning. It was very... More

My wife and I were on our way from a week in Sevilla to our flights from Barajas and decided to spend a day and night in Madrid to break the trip. We arrived on the AVE from Sevilla at the Atocha station, took the escalator to the upper level, and the elevator to the street and were about 50... More

Location excellent for Atocha Station, Metro, Retiro Park. The Prado, Reina Sofia and Thyssen Museums. The metro to Puerta del Sol was 3 stops and cost 1€. Reception, helpfull, efficient, nothing too much trouble. We were able to leave our luggage with them for collection later and they ordered taxis and advised on restaurants etc we also used the front... More

This is good, clean hotel. I have never stayed at NH before so I do not know the standards and I am aware rooms are smaller in Europe. However these rooms were tiny. Beds were moving... we blocked the wheels but they still moved. Other than that, everything was good. Breakfast was very good, we had a child with us... More

I stayed at NH Sur for one night as it is right across from the main station, Atocha, and very close to the metro line to take you to the airport. The room was small but clean; no view but that meant it was quiet. Staff at the desk were accommodating when my TV would not work. Nothing too special... More

I booked a room in the NH Sur after two excellent experiences in other hotels of this franchise (in Salzburg and in Dortmund) and this one was definitely not as good. The room was quite small and nothing particular in terms of style or atmosphere. Perhaps the worst was the wood floor, that was badly worn around the bed. Traffic... More
