I didn't actually choose Fawlty Towers but got booked in there after a complication with a booking at another hostel. I ended up paying €25 for a bed in a 3-bed room with ensuite bathroom on the 6th floor of the reception building on Via Magenta 39 (speaking to another guest who had trekked over from a nearby building to... I was disappointed - Rick Steves' book recommended it, but I wonder if he actually stayed here. An old dingy room, however the sheets and towels seemed clean. However, the bathrooms leaked water whenever anyone took a shower so the bathrooms were often wet and not fun to walk around in. Had some trouble sleeping because the doors and heavy... More

I can't believe a place like this exists. It was one of the WORST places I have ever seen for tourists. I can't believe the Rough Guide listed it, I will be putting in a complaint. If you want to save money, trust me, there are other places out there for the same or cheaper price. The shower ceiling was... More

We got to Rome by train and this thing that some people call hotel was easy to find: it´s just across Termini Station (and believe me this is the only good thing about Fawlty Towers). They start with asking the full payment in advance (never happened to me) and when you get to the room it´s the big disapoitment: everything... More

My friend and I took a trip to Italy and stayed in many small hotels along the way. Falty Towers in Rome was the worst travel experience I have every had! To start things off, we arrived at the hotel and were told that we had booked a double and a single room and that we would be responsible for... More

I had a really heavy bag to carry so I really appreciated it being so close to the main station - literally across the main road, down a side street 100m away. I stayed there for a week for the Champions LG final. I only wanted something really basic, but tbh it was less than basic. Bathroom was not ensuite... More

The pros: Cheap rates. Staff was friendly. I liked the location near the train and bus station. The sheets were clean and the bed made up every day. The cons: Kitchen had no microwave, stove or kettle to heat water - how can it be called a kitchen? Heat in room came on at 7 pm and off by 9pm... More

Fawlty Towers was a great place to stay considering that we were on a rather tight budget! I understand that there are both dorm rooms and private rooms available. The room was ok - clean and reasonably comfortable but certainly in need of some TLC. The staff were informative, polite and funny. The bit that made this accomodation particularly great... More

I stayed and this hotel for 4 nights. At my last night I discovery that the reception door was open, but the staff was slepping in a room! I can't belive. Anyone could enter and nobody stop! I agree with the others users opion. So, this hotels it isn't a saver place to stay. More

My husband and I stayed here for our last night in Rome. The reviews are true. The bathroom smelled like sewage and the bed was broken. When we tried to go to sleep at 10:30 PM, the room next door was blasting rap music with the door wide open and there were noisy, unsupervised children staying in the hostel while... More
