With 3 other couples, we stayed at the Hotel Stendhal in early May. The hotel was recommended to us by a friend who had stayed there the previous year. The hotel is well positioned, clean and well run with friendly and efficient staff throughout. Our room on the second floor (which mean't that we did not have to use the... More

My wife and I spent 3 nights at Hotel Stendhal April 24-26. It was a very pleasant stay, set up by Costco Travel. Our stay included a buffet breakfast each morning, which was ample. The rooms were very pleasant, and the hotel staff were outstanding. The close location to the central railway station was a big advantage, plus it was... More

We checked in here for our final night in Rome during our stay in April '12. My partner and I have been to Rome many times and enjoy staying in or around the Barberini area as we had been doing on this occasion too. There were of course cheaper hotels but you get what you pay for, generally, and this... More

We traveled in May 2012 and had a lovely stay in this boutique hotel. Location is great - just a stone's throw from Barberini metro. It is right on the street where the fountain is facing. It's convenient to walk to Trevi fountain and Via Sistina where it leads to the Spanish steps and major shopping area (Spagna). We even... More

We are six ladies traveling together in Italy for 3 weeks and our first stop was 4 nights in Rome at Hotel Stendhal. The facilities were exceptional, the rooms a good size for such a central position and the staff were so friendly and helpful. Our rooms were cleaned and tidied with fresh towels every day. We'd not hesitate to... More

The rooms are extremely small which seems to be a common complaint. Mine was the size of a closet and faced a dirty inner courtyard. The staff was unfriendly. The breakfast staff were still adjusting their uniforms when the breakfast room opened at 7am and there was hardly anything ready at the buffet. Avoid if you are on business. More

Dear Customer, I'm very sorry to hearing your ugly impression about the Hotel Stendhal and the staff. Usually, like many reviews in tripadvisor, our employees are friendly and obliging, ready to satisfy our customers. Breakfast starts at 7.00 am, the dressing room is at a different level and only when everything is ok the staff is on duty in the... More

We just completed a one-week stay at this hotel. We found it to be a great spot for exploring Rome, given its location next to a metro stop and many bus routes. Upon arrival, we were upgraded to a larger room, which I'm sure made our stay more comforable. This hotel has terrific sound-proofing. Our room faced the street, but... More

The hotel was, as my previous research indicated, very well-located: 50m from Barberini subway station, walking distance to most attractions and a stop for many bus lines (which are very easy to take thanks to the excellent Roman public transportation website - http://www.atac.roma.it/) literally by the door. I stayed for a week and it was a perfect base to visit... More
