4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 April 2013

We stayed in the San Max for 4 nights in mid-April and were very happy with it. Via Etnea is the main thoroughfare in the city centre, so it is important to ask for a room at the back of the hotel. We were awakened in the morning, not by traffic, but by birdsong - can't be bad in a... More

Good hotel, not too far from the Duomo, with a good quality to price ratio. I asked for a room in the back, which was also quite big, to avoid the noise of Via Etnea. Ethernet connection in the room was very good (Wi-Fi was also provided). Breakfast was ok.

We stayed only overnight in April 2013. Very good location, just 10-15 min walk from Duomo. Yes, very friendly stuff. Good Wi-Fi, good rooms, reasonable prices. I recommend to book parking place in advance as the small car park could be full.

We stayed 3 days in October 2012. Good location, good transfer point (bus 457) to the airport. A tiny breakfast - perfect for Italy, but not so good for some other countries in Europe. Good staff - Loredana and Max, but night personal is not prepare to collaborate withEnglish speaking guests. The breakfast in nor served PUNCTUALLY at 7.15 h.... More

Being centrally located is a good idea, however the road on which the hotel is located is paved with stones. Very romantic, but also ensuring a very high level of noise whenever a car goes by – i.e. throughout the whole night. Rooms are OK, but the hotel has a sort of annex (in which our room was located) that... More

Rooms are big, clean and are not noisy. Is on the Via Etnea, but little bit far away from the Piaza Duomo. For the price was it good value, but it is nothing extra in the Catania. We was there only 1 night.

I've stayed in a few hotels in Catania and this one is average, i would recommend it only if it offers a special price. My room was ok, very big, but the bathroom door could not get closed, so i was forced to share my "intimacy" with the friend I was traveling with. Uhm...a bit awkward. They do not have... More

I stayed three nights and had good experience the entire stay. The hotel is in the heart of the shopping area for the city, so there is a lot traffic. In spite of this, I was able to get a good nights sleep by closing the balcony doors and using the fan. The building itself is old but the rooms... More
