Based on some of the other reviews, I was not expecting much, so I wasn't very hopeful. Once we arrived in Florence, I fell in love with the city and decided to go with the "it is what it is, accept it for what it is and ignore what it's not". The Boscolo Astoria could use new carpet. It could... More

I was very concerned when I gambled on Priceline and won this hotel. Reading the reviews made me a little frightened, so I contacted the hotel to let them know that I had concerns, and that perhaps if I upgraded the room I would be less nervous. I upgraded to the deluxe (the mid level room) for an extra 15... More

I was forced to stay in this dump for work...Never has such a hotel greated me before...memebers of my party actually had acute medical problems due to the heavy mold....Under one of the rooms carpets on the 5th floor, we found black mold under the carpets below the ac, along wth brown streaks running down the walls from the ac... WE arrived in Florence by Train, and this hotel was two blocks from the train station. Excellent location. Walking distance to nearly everything in Florence. Very nice free breakfast- I made myself a sandwich of wonderful Tuscan bread and cold cuts for lunch each day. There is some worn carpeting in the back hallways, a few cracks in plaster, no big... This Hotel is in a wonderful location but thats about the only thing going for it. Our room was small and dank with the worlds smallest wardrobe . The corridors had a musty smell and are in need of a major paint job but by far the worst thing is the constant smell of the drains. The staff all must... More

We spent eight very pleasant days in Hotel Astoria. Our room was comfortable and well maintained. Top marks to the entire staff for exceptionally professional service combined with a cheerful human touch. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can recommend Hotel Astoria to anyone coming to Florence. The hotel is in a great location, just a few steps to the Uffizi, the Duomo, shops, restaurants, grocery stores and the train station. This must've been a grand place in it's time you can still appreciate the architectural details but it is outdated. My room was comfortable with a nice view and very spacious but some things were falling... More

first, just let me state how great the staff was. very polite, very helpful, esp luigi. but the rooms. argh. i couldn't lock my door, there was no air conditioning, and my queen sized bed was actually two twins pushed together so i couldn't even sleep comfortably across the middle (i mean, why have a queen if you can't spread... Not expecting luxury, we loved the charm and comfort of this hotel. The breakfast room is beautiful and the dining room lovely. We were here off-season and the staff was very friendly and more than accommodating. The location is perfect, convenient to all the sites of Florence. The views of the Duomo at night are breath-taking! This was the perfect... More

Of the 3 hotels planned through our tour co., this was the only one that remained unchanged. Pity!! Pluses are: located in the heart of Florence, magnificent staircase and chandeliers, nice terrace with potted plants and wonderful view of the Duomo. Otherwise, the back of the couch in the reception area was filthy with hair grease, as well as the... More
