We stayed here years ago on our honeymoon and it was a fine and affordable place to rest your head. Nothing fancy, the building was pretty cool as it is 600 years old! The location was perfect to reach everything on foot and for the price (35 usd, at the time) I was very happy with it. Not a romantic... More

We spent 2 nights in Florence and had a very spacious room for 3 of us. The room had a double bed and 2 singles. It was nicely decorated and the location was excellent. The room had a kitchen (with not much equipment however) and AC and TV with MTV. The owner was very helpful. He gave us a map... More

If you are looking for a cheap place to stay this is it... its in a good location... very close to all the major attractions... as long as you arent planning on staying in your room it would be fine. The rooms are pretty much empty, no safe in the room and the doors to the rooms didn't seem very... More

I wonder if a lot of people complaining here regularly expect to get something for nothing. We paid €60 per night for a room 5 minutes walk from the Duomo. At that price you should not be expecting luxury. We did get the room with the fresco - it was spacious but basic. The main problem is the shared bathrooms... More

Our room was spacious, clean and quite pleasant. Excellent location. Unfortunately, I think that only one of the rooms has a painted ceiling so don't get taken in by the photo! We didn't expect luxury from any of our hotels along our travels around italy, and this certainly isn't luxury - very simple - a bed and a cupboard! More

I stayed there with a friend, fortunatly only for 2 nights. We asked for a twin room with private bathroom, they confirmed it but when we arrived we found a double room with share bathroom, it was terrible, no tv, no telephone, not clean, everything old and dirty. The owner was non existent, we saw her just when we arrived... More

From reading the other reviews there seems to be 2 Proconsolo Rooms. The one of Via Proconsolo, owned by a Croation lady, and another one owned by a Spanish lady - apparently called Proconsolo Rooms 2. We stayed for three nights at the first, which is the only one apparently offering 2-bed rooms. It was a great disappointment and nothing... More

I spent one week there in March 2004 with my sister and a friend. The hostel is actually behind the Duomo on the third floor of a historic (everything in that area is historic) building. The rooms are not huge, the furniture isn't that fancy, and there are 3 standard bathrooms. The location of this place is fantastic. If you... More

WHen I had a chance to stay in Italy for a few days after a conference, I booked the cheapest hostel I could find that didn't involve bunk beds and strangers- Proconsolo Rooms 2 at E18 per person per night. I wasn't expecting much- I figured we weren't going to be spending much time in a room anyway. Wow- apparently... More

Proconsolo Rooms are very centrally located and cheap, which is the best I can tell. We had booked a four bedded room and actually had a double bed and one camp bed. No frescoed ceilings but stain due to water spotting... We?ve stayed there for one week and one of the three bathrooms was cleaned once! In the end taking... More
