I agree with the previous comments. We stayed in May and regularly stay with the chain. Our room had been renovated and was of a high standard (no face washers provided) but the breakfast offering was the worst we have ever seen in any hotel. I gave this hotel a second chance as I read that they had renovated the hotel. But, there was no good surprise. Rooms are "new" but the design cold and empty. We stayed in a twin room (two rooms joined together) at Holiday Inn, Lugano. The hotel is in a nice location, close to Lugano Lake. The rooms were fine and comfirtable. However, the views were not that great and amenities were average. Overall, it was a stay which was just fine.

The hotel was a deception for me. It´s close to the lake and you can walk to downtown. The staff was ok, but the structure was terrible.
