Because of circumstances needed to book a hotel close to my work and therefore decided to book a single room in the NH hotel Marquette in Heemskerk.
Although I arrived late (around 00.30hours) the night guard/receptionist attended to me promptly and correctly. He quickly arranged the paperwork and after signing for my checkin I received the key from room number...

We have stayed many times at this hotel, mainly because it is very nicely and quietly located. The sea is fairly close, the town centre offers plenty of shops and cafés, by train from Heemskerk or Castricum stations, there are good connections for touring the Netherlands.
The hotel is a strange mixture:
Once, this was a very elegant setting. The...

This hotel is named after the Chateau Marquette, which is on the hotel grounds and looks very nice on pictures. However, don’t be fooled: you won’t be staying in the Chateau, but in an unattractive building on a completely different part of the grounds! The website of the hotel comes close to false advertising by happily showing pictures of the...

Arrived at the hotel which looked nice and clean. However one of the cupboard doors was a mini fridge. The grease and dirt under it and around was totally unacceptable. The fridge also didn't work.
They claim free internet access. This is limited to 30 mins.We actually couldn't get it to work-it was too slow.
We booked the hotel for a...

I attended a couple of training events at the hotel so the location didn't really matter to me. I would have been very annoyed if this had been sold to me as Amsterdam. I went by train and found Castricum to be the most convenient train station (about 25 minutes from Amsterdam CS and 40 minutes from Schiphol) . Getting...

The hotel is in the town of Heemskerk, which is a 30 minute drive away frm Amsterdam. The main town of Heemskerk was a 5 minute drive away, it had everything - supermarkets, restaurants, take away places, pubs, etc. We drove to the park and ride Arena Transferium every time we needed to go to Amsterdam. It was 6 euros...

Just stayed here at the weekend, the reason was to attend an event in Heemskerk (I think I'd have been rather annoyed if I'd booked it as an 'Amsterdam' city break), the hotel is only about 8 minutes walk from the town centre so the location was perfect for us but I'd have to agree with a previous reviewer that...

My girlfriend and I booked this through Fleetway Travel as an Amsterdam city break.
We got to Schipol airport train station to discover that it is actually over an hour away from Amsterdam.
Finally got to Heemskerk Station (which is possibly THE REMOTEST STATION IN THE WORLD) to discover that there is no bus or taxi link from this station....

Well let me start by saying... if you've looked at and like the hotels photo's on the web then think again. I have included a few photo's of my own as only one of the websites photo's is actually of the hotel.
I did book this hotel because of the lovely pictures and when i arrived it worried me that...
