Nice place, well situated in an excellant location close to all amenities. Staff were lovely and accommodating, breakfast was lovely and very traditional. Problem.. Got two double rooms,,, in the attic, which was yes up two flights of stairs (bare in mind we had two kids one a crawling baby, so we wern't really comfortable at all). Take the kids... More

We were given the attic room and lugging cases up two flights of typically steep twisting Dutch stairs late at night gave us little joy. The room itself was worse: 3 single beds, terry towelling sheets, a bathroom my husband couldn't stand up in and curtains which did not adequately shut out the light. It was also in a noisy... More

I have stayed at the Stad en Land on numerous and will continue to do so. The location of the hotel is excellent as it is opposite the bus and train stations. The rooms are basic, pretty much what you would expect from a 3 star. Breakfast is the traditional cereals, bread, cold meats, cheese, coffee, etc, etc. Nothing special,... More

Taking the train directly from Schipol, and without walking more than 150 m in total, to get to my room in less than an hour is what I call convenient. This hotel is basic and inexpensive. Rooms in various shapes and sizes and some in adjacent buildings. Breakfast is continental: cereals, meats, cheese, toast, coffee/tea, etc. Location in Alkmaar is... More

Hi. We stayed 3 nights in this hotel with our kids. The family room we booked was located in the attic-floor of the Dutch-style building. So the family room actually consists of 2 rooms, which was nice arrangement. The hotel consists of several houses within a same block, the receprion is in the bar. Staircases to this family room were... More

I've stayed here twice, each time for about a week and usually in the Spring/early Summer. It is a small quiet family run hotel with basic amenities. Internet is available at the bar. It is convenient to central Alkmaar, (-10 minute walk), to the train station (100 m). About 40 minutes by train from central Amsterdam and less than an... More

Conveniently located opposite the rail and bus station, just 10 minutes' walk from the town centre. Check-in takes place at the hotel bar. I was allocated a ground-floor room in an adjacent house just around the corner and given a separate front-door key to come and go as I pleased. Accommodation was basic , the bed narrow and not very... More

I stayed one night in Sept 07. I arrived by train so can not comment on the parking. You need to bear in mind the price that you are paying. Do not expect 5 star. However, the place was clean, safe, quiet and the staff were helpful. Breakfast was ok. Expect a basic standard delivered very well and you will... More

My daughter lives in the Netherlands and I just returned from visiting with her, her husband and my new grandson. We planned a shopping trip to Alkmaar, which we both love and this hotel looked fine online and the price was right, €75.00 including breakfast. They told me that parking was €4 per night. I knew they were near the... More
