Recently returned to this hotel after 8 years. its still a grand place, but it is worn and needs some TLC to improve standards and justify the hefty price tag. There was no one to help with the luggage on arrival. My room was not ready. The entrance carpet was dirty, the chairs on either side on the entrance were... More

Though probably the best hotel in Amstrdam, visited by Royals and Movie stars, the Amstel Hotel remains friendly, yet correct and offers a warm athmosphere. Their main restaurant, la Rive, has several Michelin stars and it truely excellent! The Brasserie is small, cozy and seves as thebar as well. The serre is famous for it's high tea and is ideal... No wonder they call this hotel the best in the Netherlands. Wonderful service ( they had a free taxi service to okurahotel because their sauna/swimningpool was under restoration), great rooms with river views and a outrageous english breakfast to start the day with. You pay, but you enjoy. More

Old world luxury. The check in process was very personal versus stading behind a desk to check in. I definately appreciated the sit down check in. Rooms were large and relatively updated. In room amenities were pretty standard. Thankfully movies on demand was included as there were only a handful of English speaking channels on television. The only negative was... More

I spent a night at this hotel, which is on the banks of the river Amstel. I stayed in a luxury suite, which was very good - unusually for a European hotel it was very spacious. Service was excellent, facilities are very good and food is good. A good location from which to view the city and a good location... More

We stayed here for two days last week and loved the hotel. We then switched to the Pulitzer, another first class hotel, because we were using points for free nights, but we definitely liked the Amstel better. The exception is that the location is not as convenient to the center of town, but it is still picturesque, on the river,... More

Fabulous hotel in many respects. The location is great if you want something a little outside of the hustle and bustle. My only negative is that the gym is quite small, with 2 treadmills and not a whole lot else. Better to run outside, if the weather cooperates, along the Amstel Canal south which takes you into some really nice... More

We thoroughly enjoyed everything about our stay at this property. As Club Ambassador Members, we enjoyed an automatic upgrade to a Junior Suite with lovely classic decor and a river view. The hotel is a bit away from the city center, only a short walk and we appreciated the quiet locale. The concierge desk was extremely helpful with our requests.... More
