I was rather nervous to stay at the hotel after reading the reviews (which i somehow did after booking my room)...however, I was pleasantly surprised by experience and had a lovely stay. As far as budget hotels in Amsterdam go (and i've stayed in a couple), this hotel is a gem. The location is fantastic. The staff were friendly and... More

Some of the so positive reviews make me feel that I wasn´t at the same hotel. The woman es extremely rude and rare. The bathroom smell was awful. It was dirty and wet. Breakfast, which was served by the rude woman, was basic and she was so rude that made us feel unconfortable. My room was basic, too, worn and... More

The only positive thing is the location. The room was very filthy, even inside the wardrobe! I was asked to pay in advance, otherwise I wouldn´t have stayed in there. The woman is VERY weird and rude. She´s got a dog and more than once, she took the dog and then served breakfast. The stairs are terrible dangerous. The are... More

Traditional & reasonably priced for this expensive city.Short walking distance to all the major tourist sights. Good breakfast of juice, coffee or tea fresh breads, egg, cheese and ham, served from 8.30am in cosy room overlooking Rijksmuseum and street where bus to airport & trams to station stop.Staff friendly and very helpful.I happily left my luggage on departure day at... Just got back from Amsterdam last week , and based on the many good to great reviews chose this Hotel. The only thing good about the place is the Location, very close to Museums and the main tramp line Nos 5 which covers most of the key Amsterdam location is right outside the hotel. Its walking distance to shopping and... More

Yep, those stairs are no joke. But you're in an old building in an old European city, so also somewhat cool I thought. Staff was very friendly, and I thought the breakfast was actually pretty good, with plenty to eat. In fact, I arrived at 9am, just hoping to stash my bags. Instead, the room was ready and they offered... More

I did read the reviews and like others were prepared for the steep stairs. 61 from pavement to our room like climbing a ladder. The room was the smallest I have even seen. Two single beds pushed together with about 18ins to walk round. The bedding was clean but the duvet was stained and dirty. The curtains were filthy with... More

Ok some people are saying the old woman comes across as a bit of a fuss pot she is but she doesn't mean any harm. It's just the way she is that's all. The place was decent, the rooms could of done with a refurbishment and a few lose electricals which was a concern, but this did not put me... More

Based on reviews I read before I travelled, I was prepared for the stairs and so packed lightly and in a rucksack. I would advise anyone who can to do the same. The location is very good - handy for trams, buses and many attractions. I didn't find the tram noise a problem but anyone who expects quiet might. I... More
