What makes this place special is the friendliness of the owners, who take time to explain you all the good spots in Coimbra, including a nice restaurant. The rooms are not very special, but simply do their job (we hade the ensuite, with everything you need including a welcome glass of port). Breakfast buffet is of high standards, even if... More

This is going to be a rave, but let's get the difficult part out of the way up front: for first-time visitors to Coimbra, this place was incredibly hard to find. Even though we were in touch with a staff member by cell phone, we still managed to park the car far away and walk many streets before we found... More

My wife and I loved our stay here and would very happily return. The lame joke in my title simply calls attention to the fact that here in the historic centre (and Casa Pombal is perhaps the only place to stay that is genuinely in the historic centre) you are on a large, steep hill, and near the top of... Everything was wonderful about my stay at Casa Pombal. When I arrived, I was greeted & given a map with helpful, individualized recommendations. The owner helped me confirm my reservation at my next destination, as well as figure out the train schedule. I left some jewelry there and they mailed it back to my home address -- incredibly kind! The... More

A lovely quirky little geusthouse run by an increadibly helpful Dutch lady who will go out of her way to help you. The rooms are on the small side and there are no lifts, our room had a really great view from the bathroom. If you like your mod cons as found in the chain hotels, then this is not... More

Anya, the owner, was great from the moment we got to the guesthouse. She has lots of great recommendations and pointed us in the direction of some free Fado music for that night. When we returned at night we found hot waterbottles in our beds. The breakfast was delicious and included a lot of vegan and vegetarian options. Highly recommended!

Our room on the top floor had a beautiful view over the rooftops of Coimbra and was adorably decorated in cozy colors. There were free port wine and water in the room, robes to wear, and helpful, friendly staff. It was impeccably clean and the room was very well cleaned during our stay, too. It's the only place I noticed... More

Loved this unique, old-world B&B on a steep hill near the University of Coimbra, the Fado Center and other attractions within walking distance. Steep, narrow stairs limit this to fit travelers who can carry their own bags up, though our host grabbed a bag and took it up herself. Hosts are very knowledgeable and eager to help, with recommendations, good... More

The B & B is in the old city by the University. What they say in their advertisement is right. Coimbra is a city of steep hills. It is a great location but you must be ok to walk up steep hills and the B & B itself has many floors with many stairs. However, the stairs are comfortable to... More

This B and b was great. Port for us in the room and water bottles too! The ladies running the place were so helpful and very eager to please. The breakfast was super. Free parking on the street too. The location is very close to the University and we were able to walk everywhere.
