We were staying in another hotel for this trip. Last minute decided to stay one more night. Our hotel was fully booked so we found the Residencial Alegria online and reserved quickly. It was a long weekend so most things were full already. We had such a wonderful surprise when we checked in. The hotel was beautiful, quiet and the... More

The hotel is very close to Avenida metro station, which was extremely useful and made it a lot easier to travel to the airport. It's quite close to all the bars and restaurants and is only 5 minutes walk away to the tram that takes you up to the centre of Bairro Alto (15 minutes to walk if you fancy... More

I stayed here in October 2011 and thought that the hotel is really good value for money. The room was clean and spacious. Breakfast is included and there was a good choice of food. It's really easy to get the tram up to the Barrio Alto to the many bars and restaurants. Great value and a perfect location

Stayed at this 2* hotel 10 years ago when it cost £26 for the two of us. Now it is still only £40 a night. Just off Avenida Liberdade just a few minutes walk from Rossio. Excellent location for two Metro stations, and now the Metro goes all the way to the Airport, so easy to get to. Several good... More

This is my second time here to this 2 star hotel. The Location is ideal. Between the old part(Barrio Alto) and the new area ( ave de Liberte-similar to Champs d'eylsee and high end shops), This is a quiet, friendly and affordable quaint hotel. Be sure to book the rooms on the front , that look out onto the fountain... More

My wife is completely dependent on a wheelchair and Lisbon is notoriously hilly, so finding a good location with accessible accomodation was vital. In the event, the Alegria exceeded our expectations in every respect save one and was far better value for money than other places I have stayed in Lisbon. It's only just off the Avenida do Liberdade and... More

We originally booked 4 nights but only stayed one. The man at reception was very rude and unhelpful and was trying to charge us four nights, then changed to two nights stay even if we left 2 hours after we checked in. Fortunately the manager called back and rectified the situation but their cancellation policies really need to be reviewed... More

What a disaster! Came to Lisbon for my sisters birthday weekend. Hotel looks ok on website. We arrived to find what could best be described as a youth hostel. And is across the road from a very worrying park that we felt very uncomfortable walking through even in day light. We decided it wasn't for us and found somewhere else...the... More

We spent three nights at this hotel, that was very reminiscent of a hostel room with twin beds and a private bathroom. We booked the rooms initially and then were feeling a littled unsettled after reading some of the reviews on tripadvisor. Overall, we were fortunate to be given a room that was in the corner of the building, so... More

A small and very clean pension. The location is perfect except the noise of the police cars from the police station beside the pension. The breakfast was good. There is a metro station just a few meters near the pension.
