As per the other reviews, this place is hard to find BUT when you do it is such a fantastic and unexpected gem that all struggle is forgotten. Our room was enormous yet also very cosy. The food was divine - Robert is an amazing cook! We went there last October for a long weekend. Even though the weather was... More

We managed to be late arriving to the Lagosta Perdida and made life a bit difficult for ourselves. It was a very dark and rainy night and we missed the turn off at Portelo, twice! Then we couldn't see the signs in the village and almost stumbled upon it by accident. Lost indeed! From there things improved markedly. Our room... More

We almost gave up on A Lagosta Perdida, and are SO glad we persevered. My husband and I drove up from Lisbon, having chosen this B&B because 1) it is halfway between Lisbon, Portugal and Fuentes de, Spain, 2) has a grand piano, library with computer, and TV with lots and lots of channels. We thought we'd have no problem... More

Yes, I have house envy! Robert and his family have a beautifully renovated/rebuilt home in a wonderful national park. Everyone was very welcoming and friendly. We went on one hike (were only there for one night) and had a great dinner afterwards. The chestnut bread Robert cooked (with local chestnuts) was amazing (along with the rest of dinner). I would... A Lagosta Perdida is a fantastic find in the remote high hills of Portugal's Montesinho National Park. Everything about this upscale B&B was fantastic. The pleasant, witty, and charming owner, Robert (his partner, Sally, was away when we were there); the meals, the well appointed room and comfortable bed in a gorgeously reconstructed stone farm house; the library of books,... Robert welcomed us to his beautifully converted house high in the hills, based in the small and charming village of Montezino. Our rooms were well appointed and comfortable. Meals are taken together - outside on our first 2 days, inside on the last - where you get to meet your fellow travellers: Dutch, Portuguese, English, Americans at the large shared... More

My part of 3 stayed here for four nights in early April, 2011. We did so in conjunction with a series of hikes situated in the Parque Natural de Montesihno (Natural Park of Montesinho). As far as I can tell, short of being from this remote area, your only chance of doing these hikes is via this hotel, which provides... More

We stayed here for 4 nights and really enjoyed ourselves. We walked in the mountains, visited local towns and ate and drank far too much. Robert is an excellent cook and every evening meal was a different delight and always of the highest quality. The house conversion was fantastic - we would recommend a stay here whole heartedly. I have stayed in many bed and breakfasts in Portugal. This is amongst the very best. it is a beautiful conversion of a granite village house, conserving many original features, in a lovely mountain village. They have bought the house opposite, and are converting the ground floor into a carpark below for guests (parking is currently available but limited) and... More

We spent one wonderful night in April at A Lagosta Perdida. We were touring northern Spain and decided to dip into Portugal for a night. We found this cozy inn on the Trip Advisor website, saw its perfect rating, and booked two rooms for ourselves and our teen-aged daughter. What a lovely surprise! The inn is located in a charming,...
