The hotel is good value and well located, but we didn't find it very pleasant. The guy who was on duty when we arrived was very helpful, not so for the rest of the stay. The smell of cigarette smoke from another room travelled into ours, and it was also quite noisy. Internet uneven. We'd look for another option next... More

Small hotel run by a family with clean modern facilities, in a great neighborhood close to the city center. This is the fanciest one-star hotel I've ever seen, at a hostel price. The internet was not working well, but that's something I'm sure they will fix quickly.

Good location 5-7 min walk for all main sights and 3 min from promenade area. Hotel is very simple, but it has all important things for 1-2 night stay. Very clean. Staff is friendly and helpful. We had spacious double room on the first floor with balcony. Shared bathroom on the floor. Clean,  equipment's not old there. What really we missed  there, it's door handle... More

Stayed there 1 night, just to explore Heraklion and visit Knossos palace. The hotel is simple, but quite adequate, staff is friendly and helpful. there is no shampoo in a shower, the doors are closed at night, so warn about your late arrival and do not forget keys. it is very close to city attractions, but it is much more... Hotel Rea was easy to find, a pleasant walk from the ferry port along the water and a few blocks inland in a nice, commercial neighborhood. The rooms are very basic but clean and quiet and there is a wide choice of places to eat within a few blocks. The proprietors were friendly; we enjoyed talking with them, and hearing... More

We had a strange time at this little pension. We were on our honeymoon. When we arrived at the pension, the gentleman was not very friendly, not very welcoming. When we were shown the room on the first floor, there was the smell of mould. We didn't say anything. After I laid down on the bed, I noticed the source... More

i have been staying at the Rea for about 15 years, so negative comments really bother me! I feel that if people inderstand that this is a budget pension, but clean and nice they will be prepared. It sounds to me as if some of the travelers posting were outrageously unprepared for real life. The family-run establishment has seen some... More

Although the hotel is located on a narrow street, the location is central, and we had no problems with security. Except for the taxi driver who said it wasn't possible to get there by car, which is a lie. We were very well attended, but we had problems in the bedroom, located on the ground floor: after our first night... More

So me and my friend called this hotel to make a reservation the day before our arrival. We called the hotel, received confirmation and gave a credit card number for booking purposes. When we got to Heraklion we tried calling them for directions. They claimed we never made a reservation, and the hotel was full! It was 1 AM, so... More

As budget travellers, we felt very happy at Hotel Rea. The offered a clean, basic room, affordable breakfast, good location and very helpful staff. Each staff member (we dealt with three) was kind, helpful and friendly.
