Stayed here for a seminar in August 2012. The hotel is placed on a small islet on the very edge of the North Atlantic ocean, and is - just by the location - a unique experience. I never seize to be amazed how the Norwegians have placed full service resorts at the edge of the world. The hotel is based... More

We had the best hotel stay here during our Western Norway fjord trip. We were very apprehensive staying on a small island. The experience was awesome. The hotel was super clean and the cabins nd bathroom were as good as any high end hotel. The dinner of fresh halibut was the best fish we had on the trip. A 5... More

The Atlantic Road was a "must see" on our visit to the Norwegian Fjords and seeing the quaint little island of Håholmen set just off the coast and reachable by Viking Ship, we decided to explore. The island, one of the very few inhabited considering there are thousands of islands, is minute and walked around and up and down in... More

Right off the famous Atlanterhavsveien (The Atlantic Road) - hourly transport to the island by viking ship. Like living in a museum, spacious rooms/cabins, great atmosphere and excellent restaurant and wine selection. Ever tried a whale carpaccio with a Swartland pinotage ? Try it ! And the pinotage also goes well with the various cod and halibut dishes. And for... More

Rather cool and different place, beautifully located. We even got to sail a genuine viking ship (replica of Saga Siglar), and this was really cool. Great experience! Very nice rooms, and we got a good nights sleep. The only downside with our stay was the restaurant staff and the food. Our waitress didn't even offer the easiest of all to... More

We had a reservation to stay here. My cousin said that it would be the highlight of our trip to Norway. We arrived at 1430, but were told that the room was not ready. At 1700 it was still not ready, and they could give no estimate of when it would be ready. We said no thanks and left. The... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The historical fishing station of Haholmen along the Hustadvika coast has been a place to meet, a harbour, home and workplace for fishermen, sailors, merchants and travellers for many centuries. Clipfish [dried and salted cod] was produced at Haholmen since the early 18th century. Haholmen is a truly unique place to visit, both in terms of the scenery and history. The 12-acre large island forms a last bastion against the Atlantic Ocean and local boat fairways. The island itself features an exceptionally beautiful natural harbour, well sheltered from all sorts of weather. Around thirty buildings - several from the 18th and 19th centuries - gives Haholmen the atmosphere of a close-knit village with genuine coastal history. Haholmen is particularly suitable as a peaceful and inspiring meeting place for people who work together who want to get to know each other better and carry out their assignments. 49 rooms - 100 beds and an excellent fish restaurant - lounge and Pub. And it's all at your and your guests' disposal. ... more   less
