Lovely traditional, homely hotel. Stayed here for just the one night unfortunately, would have liked to have stayed longer. Comfortable rooms and a lovely setting, Stamford a lovely town. Breakfast was good, didn't have a chance to sample dinner but hope to next time. It's not cheap but nice for a special occasion. Look out for there last minute deals... More

Had lunch today in the Garden Room. Lovely setting, great food and superb staff. Look out for a lady named Frankie - she's brilliant! More

I stayed here on the 22nd May in Room 16. I have used the George on an off for 15 years in a business capacity for lunches but had never stayed there until now. However a conference meant many of the hotels I would normally use were fully booked and the George was one of the few places with a... More

A random call heading North on the A1 seldom produces much joy or even comfort nd usually majors in disappointment. The George shows what a hotel in England can and should be. The background of Stamford helps set the imageometer to just a little off quaint. It's a good start and the George builds on it. Efficient, polite and friendly... More

A group of us stayed recently and whilst the rooms were expensive our room (314) was delightful, comfortable and very spacious. We were not warned how many flights of stairs there are at the George and whilst we did not struggle at all I imagine that perhaps some guests do! The George offers old fashioned charm, the staff are very... More

We are returning to the George yet again to enjoy the cosy understated experience of this rare English institution where time appears to stand still. The George is in a time warp and reflects a period when Britain had confidence in its manufacturing and other products. It's staff don't fuss but maintain an efficiency and friendliness which is rare in... More

Thank you so much for writing such a fabulous review regarding your stay this weekend. It is always so rewarding when a guest takes the time to personally mention members of staff. Your kind comments regarding Tushar and Diane have been shown to them and they are touched at this appreciation and they both thank you. For you to mention... More

We booked a double room and breakfast for two nights. We were told that all that was left was an 'executive room' at £200 per night. We last paid this tariff for a room at the 5-star Waldorf Hotel in central London, so we had expectations of the George. Arriving, we noticed that rooms were being advertised for that night.... More

Thank you for your review. We always try and upgrade where we can, especially if we have a last minute cancellation so I was pleased that we could do this for you. However I was disappointed to read that your bed sagged. This four poster bedroom is due to be refurbished which will include a mattress change. We have a... More
