The place feels more like an hotel than a guest house. You won't find the famous Scotish welcome there. The good: Rooms are quite comfy, nicely decorated. Breakfast is really great with a lot of home-made items. The bad: The bathroom in the room needs serious renovation. It's not classic, it's just old and it doesn't really fit 4 stars... More

I stayed there for the 3rd time this september, 5 nights with a double used as a single.I was in the area to fish for salmon on the Dee. 4 other flyfishers also stayed there at the same time, while fishing the Aberdeenshire Dee. As before, the hosts (Pieter an Lea) were very helpful with booking restaurants and so on.... More

Me and my girlfriend stayed here for two nights, while travelling through Scotland. The house is very nice and clean, as well as the rooms. Our room had the nice touch of having a en suite in the room, but down some stairs, which was really nice. We had a room facing to the side, and I can imagine the... More

We liked it here so much we stayed for two nights. Lovely big room and good sized bathroom. Breakfasts by Lea were delicious best homemade muffins I have ever had. We drove past it because we hadn't booked anything in the area and when I asked if we could stay Pieter was very welcoming and accommodating, we could tell the... More

One of the best b&bs we have stayed in. Great, big, comfortable room with an equally big, well equipped en-suite. Breakfast was fantastic, with a great choice of homemade goodies - traditional cooked breakfast, kippers, pancakes, scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, homemade museli, breads and muffins. Lea and Peter were particularly obliging - getting up extra early to cook us... More

Lovely B+B in the center of Ballater, not far from Balmoral castle, Braemar castle or hiking paths. Oldfashioned victorian style house with very pleasant staff, parking place behind the house, shops 5 minutes of house. Suprisingly missing internet (no computer, no wi-fi, no printer), for 30 GBP per person per night, this should be automatically. Showers seems to need to... More

We stayed overnight at Moorside House in order to climb Lochnagar the next day. This is a lovely large old house a few minutes walk from the centre of Ballater, which itself is very charming. We thought it offered exceptional value and was a very high quality B&B. Our room was very comfortable with an excellent ensuite, and tea and... More

We stayed just for 1 night as we were attending a dinner at The Hilton. Very welcoming, helpful and witty host . Room very spacious and clean with an intriguing lower bathroom with shower and bath. Bed very comfortable (just like home)! Breakfast was just wonderful with so much choice and homemade goodies that it would have taken us a... More

We stayed for three nights at the Moorside Inn which cost £165.00 for bed and breakfast. The Inn is lovely and immaculately clean. We stayed in room 5, which was spacious and clean and nicely furnished. It had an en-suite bathroom with a shower but no bath. Again this was spotlessly clean. The location was perfect. This was our first... More
