The Glenernan Guest House is true Scottish flavor. The owners, Denise and John are incredibly nice and all the rooms have their own bathroom! There were no disturbances in the night whatsoever, and the beds were extremely comfortable. The breakfast was also amazing. They had so many choices! Denise even helped us find what dinner place we were going to... More

We travelled in a travel group of 7 people in 4 rooms. The breakfast was delicious with a great choice. The time to serve breakfast for such a lot of people at the same time was excellent. Even we had friends with lactose intolerance, they took care and served the right food. The rooms have been quite comfortable and we... More

My husband and I returned to Glenernan at the beginning of February and were pleasantly surprised to find that our room had been restyled into a lovely large double. There is a comfortable leather sofa to relax on and watch TV or read. Everything was very clean and fresh and the extra space in this room was much appreciated and... More

Great hosts. Wonderful breakfast....lots of effort put into the presentation of the meal! Great location, within walking distance of everything in Ballater. The only negative was that our room for three was too small. But this was outweighed by the quality and comfort of the furnishings, the perfect cleanliness and (to our daughter's delight) the books - especially the Harry... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 day break at Glenernan. Hosts John and Denise were both friendly and full of helpful advice during our stay. We stayed in the superior double room which was a lovely spacious room with great views to the rear of the house. The en suite bathroom is a very good size. Glenernan was very clean and... More

You know those dreadful self-catering places where the place smells musty, looks grubby and everything seems as though it comes from a car boot sale? Well Glenernan Bothy is the complete opposite.
