The main reception is very pretty and retains plenty of character, the receptionist (female) was uniterested in our large family party that had booked to stay here, leaving our bags next to the reception desk as our rooms wouldn't be ready till 3pm. The room we had was supposedly a double but you'd have to climb over your partner to... More

Should imagine this Hotel was once beatiful in Victorian times but definetely not any more ! Very rundown, dismal and depressing even though we upgraded our room. One of the elevators was non working and from the note pinned to it had been this way for several months.our room had a small balcony which we could not use as it was... More

What can you say. Booked this hotel after seeing an offer online. Telephoned and upgraded to superior sea view room. When we arrived one receptionist trying to serve long line of customers whilst other members of staff stood talking showing no interest on customer service. Once we arrived at our room 307 we had a small side view of the... More

We booked to stay 18-21 may on a deal so felt we got a bargain - not the case at all!!! Paid for an upgrade to a sea view room after seeing the comments on here - Decor and cleanliness of the room was fantastic but PLEASE get double glazing when you update the rooms!! Other than that, not impressed... More

This hotel has clearly been lovely in its time but it is very very dated and much in need of a serious makeover (hotel inspector is calling). We booked on a KGB deal so to be fair we got what we paid for but to say we got a 60% discount is a joke. The hotel is very tired and... More

We booked this for 3 nights via a discount voucher but I was concerned when I read other reviews. yes, some of it is jaded. yes, the windows in the lounge could do with replacing. But overall it was absolutely fine. Our room was clean and comfortable. The dining room was very presentable, and the 3 course dinner was lovely.... More

Having just returned from a 2 night stay i would like to warn people about the very run down shabby hotel. We upgraded to a 'Superior' room (No 311) and found it to be of a very poor standard, I hate to think what the regular rooms are like. The window frames were rotting, the net curtains were so dirty... More

Having stayed in Scarborough on other occasions, we fancied something different, and did we get it. On entering this Hotel, you are faced with a grand staircase, that could be compaired with the one on the Titanic. Unfortunately, it does have other similarities with the ship, in the fact if it is not directed with care, it too will end... More

Stayed at this hotel for one night on 31st April 2012. LOVED IT! Where due to stay in the grand hotel just down the road but after reading some reviews decided not to! It’s a timeless hotel with a titanic type feel. The staircase you’re greeted by when you first walk in is breathtaking. Staff was friendly and polite. However... More
