We have just returned home today after spending 3 nights in this hotel. I just wish we had read these reviews before going. We booked 2 double rooms together on the same booking. One of the rooms was on the 3rd floor and ours was in the basement on level -3. The room was like a cave with no windows.... More

We've stayed here several times over several years. We find the value amazing, service very good and all the staff helpful and very polite. We have only had two problems over our stays one of which was a noise issue from a neighbour - NOT the hotels fault, the other was quickly sorted after a POLITE request to the staff.... More

Nothing good to say about it bar its position. a group of us went there with a National Holidays Coach, and I wondered how they could do it so cheap. We soon found out. atrocious food, tiny rooms, and more antisceptic dispensers than you would find in a hospital, which leads me to think they have had a lot of... More

We went to The Grand hotel on the 18th to 20th of May with National holidays. The room was very spacious. The bed was nice and comfy. There had tea making facilities at the side of the bed. The taps were filled with hot running water. The breakfast and dinner was fantastic which was self service and it offered a... More

I have to admit I was impressed by buliding that is why I booked accomodation there for 6 family members. On arrival at the location I noticed 3 x large coach toursit buses in front of the hotel unloading elderly people, warning bells started ringing. When locals asked where we were staying and we told them, there was always reservations... More

For £35 a night B&B I wasn't expecting the 'Grand' to live up to it's title, but it surpassed even my lowest expectations. On arrival the building is impressive, as is the main area with it's grand sweeping staircase but this is where the grandeur gives up the ghost! Whilst queuing at reception, the couple in front of us were... More

I have stayed here on two previous occasions and said never again, however my Mum persuaded me to try again. We booked through National and stayed for two nights 18th and 19th May. We only paid £89 each for dinner, bed, and breakfast so really we could not complain too much. However, if I had paid (more) to go privately... More

We were a bit nervous after reading all the other reviews but, really for £50 you get what you pay for - which was double room, buffet dinner for 3, buffet breakfast for 3 and a bottle of wine, and a sea view! Our room was in the basement but we had specifically requested that we had a window (couldnt... More

We stayed the May Bank holiday and got a bargain price through Brittania Hotels. We did however get a room under ground so no window. This did not matter as we were only there 1 night and only used it to get changed and sleep. The room was clean contemporary style. The food from the restaurant was fine too buffet... More

Just loved this grand old hotel ! Certainly it was showing it's age and definitely needed a bit of work...but only to stop it from falling into disrepair. What an amazing place, such a majestic old building, inside and out. Worth a visit just to admire the architecture. We didn't have an evening meal here, but did have breakfast several... More
