Love The Coach and Horses. Been going there for a few years now and it's one the friendliest pubs I've been to ever. You know how so many pubs are full of rowdy drunks or unfriendly locals? Not the Coach and Horses! It's everything you want in a pub tbh. Great real ales too and really good, very reasonably priced... More

The Coach has just been awarded the Town pub of the year for the third time running. And richly deserved too!! The choice of ales is smashing which is really down to the landlords expertise. A true pro. The food is great too. I stay at the Coach when I'm in Chepstow and I've put on the pounds. They do... More

If Hollywood was to film "the classic British Pub" they couldn't do better than the Coach & Horses. Always friendly, always a good range of well-kept beers and the food is generous and tasty, even with choices for veggies. If you're looking for a perfectly manicured chain with bright lights and decor that meets the corporate style handbook, then this... More

This is an excellent real ale pub. Popular with the locals and has a few good value rooms. The decor is tired and needs work but it is cheap, clean, central, good beer, and excellent breakfasts. It used to be a prime site for the racecourse from the racing trinkets up in the bar, but some larger hotels have taken... More

Had a great one-to-one business meeting here yesterday. I rarely drink beer at lunchtime but the CAMRA award at the door and the owner's depth of knowledge on the demise of Bass won me over. The food, though classic pub fare (I had the Gammon and Chips with Free Range Egg) was beautifully cooked and excellent quality. We were pretty... More

This is a great, friendly pub that was voted the Gwent CAMRA Town Pub of the Year for 2012. Really good selection of real ales and a small but interesting and innovative menu. I had the Welsh venison burger with chips and salad. The burger was excellent, and was served with fired onions and chilli relish, which seemed to go... More

Had a sunday dinner here about 10 days ago. The meat was tough and we couldnt cut it, and the waiter wasnt interested. The rest of the food was average at best. The oak beams were ok.If you like 3 dogs wandering around the tables looking for scraps, then you'll be over the moon with this place....but its not for me.

My wife and myself stayed here on our last night in Wales. We had a nice room and good breakfast. The landlord explained the history of the pub and also the naming of the street which was quite interesting. We enjoyed our stay here and really enjoyed our time in Wales. The locals were a good laugh too.

We stayed here for two nights while doing a walking holiday in Wales. The pub is just down the road from the start of the Wye Valley Walk and this is why we chose it. Lots of beer to choose from downstairs and a solid pub menu with veggie stuff for the other half too. Upstairs a decent enough room... More
