We've just returned home after 3 nights in Kilverts, the staff were mostly friendly and welcoming. The place is so tatty and uncared for that we didn't want to be anywhere but our room when we were there. The room was fine, we had a suite nice and large, bathroom so so bit tatty but ok. We only ate there... More

This is a good place to stay, I stayed here with a friend to visit and found it to be really nice. The lady Alex on bar was really friendly with us and we had a good evening ! The room was clean and comfortable, no complains at all. People love to moan, ignore them ! More

A large group of us walked in to Kilverts, we were greeted by a very rude lady who told a member of our party to get out of the way of the television. My sister who's 40th birthday it was had a sprained ankle so she rested her injured ankle on a stool, the bar lady came over and told... More

The warm log fire was extremely attractive as we stepped inside, from the dreary dull rainy day. Three ladies partook of lunch in the bar and it was enjoyable. Food choice quite good. The burger and chunky chips was very filling and tasty, the lasagne and garlic bread very good but even though the steak and kidney pudding was lovely it... More

We stayed 3 nights in rooms 3 (suite) and 7 (front of hotel), both of which were very comfortable. The rooms have everything you might need, even down to a hot water bottle! We ate each night in the bar and the food was good and reasonably priced. Breakfast is excellent with a great choice and hearty portions. Kilverts is... More

I and my wife ate an evening meal in the restaurant. We did not stay in the accommodation. The service was excellent and very polite (although the inn was fairly empty). The food was well presented and cooked. We both had a thoroughly good evening. More

Just a quick review. We had already eaten, so didn't order food. The manager was friendly, incredibly helpful despite us only ordering a glass of wine [an excellent French Chardonnay] and a latté [also much better than your usual pub sludge] . Went into great detail about the Hay Festival and made us feel like locals. My iPhone couldn't get... More

We booked a Friday overnight stay. I disagree with the very negative reviews posted previously. We found friendly and competent service. Room was relatively small, but well-equipped and cosy. Bed was comfy with good pillows and duvet. Complimentary tea, coffee, bottled water, hot chocolate and biscuits. Good shower. Had a lovely breakfast on Saturday morning, scrambled egg with huge slices... More

My husband and I used to love coming to the restaurant and the food was of good quality. The last time I came here was 2009 and things had started to go downhill then. We had booked to go in when we stayed in Hay in Oct of this year. I must admit it has gone downhill. The restaurant has... More

My husband and I decided to wind up our fortnights holiday with an overnight stay in Hay on Wye. I booked Kilverts with trepidation having read some very negative reviews, which I think are quite unfair. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful; the room was clean, well decorated and there was plenty of complimentary tea and coffee... More
