What a fabulous place ! The room we had was full of character, four poster bed, really comfy, all the room facilities you could need and absolutely full of the charm as you'd hope from a period building, en-suite had a lovely big bath and everything was spotlessly clean. We had an evening meal which was amazing, I'd highly recommend the mixed grill !! The food was excellent including the breakfast. We arrived in the afternoon and the whole place was busy with a great atmosphere, we spent some time in the bar which again was busy with a great feel to it. A big shout out to all the staff who we're happy to help, chatty and made our stay very memorable. Lots of places to visit nearby, we went to Symonds Yat Rock which is an amazing view point over the Wye Valley, went on 1 of the trails which was beautiful. I don't often bother writing reviews but felt on this occasion it was a must, fabulous venue, fabulous staff, fabulous location, great value for money so would recommend anyone to take a visit. Thank you The Old Court Hotel, keep up the great work !!!

I cannot believe some of the reviews for this hotel. Our experience was dire. Fair enough, the staff were very polite and nice but we had booked a “Four poster suite” at £155 a night. We were shown to a totally depressing, dirty room up some steep wooden steps in an old barn. Tiny, chintz bed, no bedside tables, tiny TV the size of a postage stamp. An old fashioned pink bath and sink in the bathroom, just awful and we left immediately. The only redeeming feature was that when I handed back the key the very pleasant lady on reception was polite and apologetic and refunded me immediately. I do not know what the rooms in the main hotel are like as was not offered one but please make sure you are not booking a room in the annexe. Anyone who reads my reviews of other places will see that I am usually positive and praising but my experience at the Old Court was depressing.

We booked a table for 2 for my birthday, when we arrived my partner was told our table would need to be changed and would he mind sitting in the conservatory babes!! Not very professional calling him babes, the lady was middle aged looked miserable and like we were an inconvenience, we were then sat at a table next to a freezing cold window with gaps in and so cold, had to ask for cutlery, then we realized there was an awards party going on right next to us music blaring and people passing us back and forward it was hurrendous, food wasn’t even very nice we spent all of 40 minutes there ended up having no puddings and wanted to get the hell out of there! Was a real shame as I love this place and it’s always my first choice when we go for a meal, wanted my wedding at this venue and it’s really put me off now! Very disappointed we booked a table and was chucked into a conservatory last minute wasn’t the relaxing evening away from the kids we wanted and there was plenty of empty tables in the front dining room , only plus I can say is the young lady serving us was very kind and made us feel welcomed

The worst meal I have ever had. If you fancy cold tasteless food then this place is recommended. My friend didn't get his meal, and everyone I was with left there plates full, they should be ashamed of the slop they served

Called in here for lunch without making a reservation. We were met by a lovely friendly lady who sat us a table with a menu. Service was quick from the time of order to receiving our food. The food was lovely… I had the fish and chips and must say the chips were the nicest I have eaten in quite a while. The room we were sat in was lovely. The lady chatted to us and was giving us information on their food and where it comes from and the fact it was all cooked from fresh local ingredients. Will definitely be back and can definitely recommend

My wife and I stayed at this 16th Century hotel on a 3 night deal, which proved to be excellent value. There was plenty of free parking onsite. The room we had was small and cosy, but adequate. All the staff we encountered were friendly, polite and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The breakfasts and evening meals were of a very high standard and the food could not be faulted. We liked the evening option of being able to eat in the main restaurant, conservatory or bar. Hotel is ideally situated for exploring the Cotswold and pretty villages and countryside. We would recommend this lovely hotel for a break away.

Beautiful Old Building, in a beautiful setting. Staff lovely friendly and very helpful. I had requested a ground floor room as no lift available and for a considerably higher cost than a standard room, I booked a ground floor apartment in the annex. The apartment was a converted barn ,advertised a luxurious as it had a 4 poster bed. The bed was a double with four posts and some ragged frill around the top ,there was nothing luxurious about it. It was squashed into a tiny room with barely enough room to get in and out of the bed on one side. It was airless and very dark as windows were just slits and did not open. The living and kitchen areas were acceptable but again very dark and airless . The bathroom was sparse and only had a bath and overhead shower ,which I was unable to use as I have mobility issues and it was unsafe. It had a pervasive smell of damp. There was a rug on the carpet in the hallway which continually rode up causing a trip hazard ,very dangerous for older guests. The building felt generally unloved and was not worth the money charged. The hotel itself was lovely, the breakfast excellent but other meals pub grub standard. I will return to the area but not The Old Court Hotel.

My hubby and I and of course our furbaby have immensely enjoyed our short break( 3 nights) away in Wye Valley staying in The Old Court Hotel in Symonds Yat. Our room was lovely with beautiful views of the back garden and woods beyond. Our bed was a four poster and oh so comfortable. A very powerful hot shower and tea and coffee making facilities. Every morning we had a superb breakfast with plenty of choices. Every evening we had dinner here with not only choice of time but also where we would like to sit. The food was all freshly cooked and of a very high standard. There was so much on the menu we were spoiled for choice. A special mention to all the staff who could not have done anymore to make sure our stay was as perfect as possible. All staff were very friendly, helpful and polite. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants the best with or without a dog. Thank you so much.

A lovely couple of days at this hotel. Everything very good, but staff exceptional! Have to commend Calum, who escorted me back (in the dark) to my room in the adjacent barn. Nothing was too much trouble. A lovely spot.

Recommend coming here to use one of 4 charging points (instavolt) , then go in for food and drink. Staff very friendly and efficient. We were welcomed for lunch at 11.55am in the conservatory. Lots of choice. Tasty lasagne. On my second visit, early Sunday morning, I had coffee and hot toast . A cheeky buttery flapjack with the coffee...yum.
