Stayed one night to break a journey. Had adjoining rooms for two adults and four kids, and the dog. Good things - spotless, lovely comfy beds, good pub style food in the bar, fantastic breakfasts, friendly helpful owners, kids and dog made to feel very welcome down to the provision of a football to kick about the garden after breakfast.... if you are seeking an authentic 1970s experience then look no further. Menu was a carvery the night we visited, had clearly been standing a long time. Relations between the owners and staff reminded me of Fawlty Towers, quite a few harsh words spoken and non English speaking waitress clearly not understanding her instructions. Very old fashioned, although spotless. Ironically... More

Decor is very much personal taste in a smaller hotel it is traditional as I think this suits a sandstone house built in 1874. As I recall you phoned and booked last minute as you were travelling down from Perth and our family suite was already booked. I did give you a discount on the cost of the smaller family... More

been here several times and the food is brilliant. Sheila and Norman are brilliant hosts and yet again I leave wondering how I am going to move after the best meal I have had in ages - in fact since the last time I visited. the people who had a bad experience here must hvae a huge imagination!

Had the Duplex suite which is a great room for families as the grown ups get privacy and the kids get their own telly!! Excellent location, all amenities nearby, mountain biking, walking things to keep the kids occupied within easy... More

We recently stayed at the Ravenshill House Hotel with our family and were incredibly disappointed. Unfortunately we did not receive any of the hospitality mentioned in other reviews - quite the opposite - We have never felt so unwelcome at a hotel. The service at breakfast was non-existent , everything seemed to be a chore for the owner who barely... More

Norman and Sheila run this excellent hotel. The food is great for all tastes, especially for vegetarians. If Norman knows you are vegetarian he will even cook you a special dish. Highly recommended.

Ravenshill House Hotel is and ideal and central location for both north- and southbound travellers and for golfers and tourists visiting Dumfries and Galloway. Sheila and Norman run a great little hotel set in a lovely garden on the outskirts of Lockerbie. Hospitality and service is great and don't miss Norman's cooking - great stuff and plenty of it. We...
