Having read favourable reviews we chose 'The Old Ferry Inn'. We drove around the hamlet seeking parking for 30 minutes. Friendly greeting, shown to an old fashioned room the type I recall from the 80's. TV I thought was an I Pod (9"), en suite with extraction fan that woke the whole floor, sprung bed with 1 pillow each (the... More

I was supporting our small team attempting the Lands End to John o Groats cycle route. This was night two. Terrible cycling conditions and wicked wild wind and Cornish lashing rain. A quick dash over the estuary and we had found our little oasis. The old and slightly battered appearance gave way to comfortable and slightly quirky room and bathroom... More

We made this our base for a two night trip to this part of Cornwall with friends over from Chicago. The location is 'interesting', it being separated from the main village of Fowey by a ferry ride which only runs until early evening, so we ended up eating at the hotel twice for dinner as well as breakfast, and having... We recently had a lovely three night stay in the Old Ferry Inn. Our room was well equiped, a comfortable bed and a lovely view down the Fowey river, complete with dolphin! The breakfasts were excellent and any combination was cooked to order - e.g. kippers with poached eggs. The dining room also had views of the river and so... More

This is quite a difficult hotel to sum up. We were spoilt somewhat by the stunning weather, a first for so many months. Location is trully oustanding, well worth the extra £10 for the estuary view (we had room 9) . Very welcoming, renovated room was clean tidy new bathroom with power shower, this was the smallest shower room I... More

Chose Fowey off the map by chance and The Old Ferry Inn from reviews. We are happy with both choices. After an horrendous journey down on Frday 26 Mrch 2013, we arrived at 1030pm but were greeted at the door, assisted in getting our stuff up to our room and made to feel most welcome. The room was much more... More

We were staying at a holiday cottage nearby, and got to eat here on four nights out of seven, which itself is a testimonial. The bar is very atmospheric, though on our first night we ate in the dining room as the bar was full to overflowing. The food and drink on all nights was excellent; with the food obviously... More

We have just returned from a wonderful two night stay here. We had a lovely bright room with views over the river and across to Fowey. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was excellent. My partner is vegetarian and although we informed them of this before our visit and there were vegetarian options on the menu -... More

We stayed here for a long weekend last weekend and had a great time. The bedroom was clean and bright and we had a brilliant view of Fowey. Being near the car ferry was no problem it was interesting to watch cars unloading and we even saw a dolphin swimming in the river. The food is delicious and obviously very fresh... More

Stopped here on our way back to polruan for some food expecting the usual pub fare, then we saw the specials board.... Beef bourginion and vegetable risotto. Veg risotto in cornwall, boring, maybe bland? Or cooked by the French owners, tasty and utterly delicious! The beef equally great, authentic and flavoursome, what a lovely surprise. Thanks ferry inn, only wish... More
