We paid £29 pp dinner bed and breakfast. Good points - excellent evening meal, very good breakfast, polite and friendly staff, comfortable bed, fantastic price!. Bad points - only one, I'm sure our room was used for a' pipe smokers convention' as it was stinking of tobacco smoke. More

Oxford hotels have redefined the definition "Hotel" , as the dreadnought can only be described as a Hovel : a ramshackle miserable dwelling place. On arrival outside looks fantastic thats where it ends. The room was disgusting, stains on... More

We took my parents for a wee break , and , after refusing to stay in the first room we were offered , and also the second , we finally accepted the third choice which was barely acceptable. The place is manky!!!. My wife and I spoke to the receptionist who was really nice , but kept repeating " we... More

I do agree with previous other reviews that this hotel could do with a good bit of TLC. Rooms etc are in need of redecoration as they place is looking a bit tired and on the shabby side. However rooms are still clean and the staff are all very very nice. Food was excellent. we only paid £70 for Dinner,... More

Yes it's old. Yes it's a bit worn round the edges and yes it's a bit dated but for value for money, it takes some beating. It's clean, the food's great and the staff attentive. We've been several times and that's because it is so reasonable we can afford to. They even accommodate our geriatric collie free of charge. It's... More

Now, if you are going to spend one or a few nights in a small rural village in Scotland in a hotel called the Dreadnought, what do you expect? If you expect soft beds, a modern bath/shower and some excellent breakfast, you just might be disappointed. But if you allow for the place and setting, having stained glass (if you... More
