If you are ok with a hotel which does NOT provide soap, shampoo (although available for 5 pounds in a vending machine), hair dryer, or anything else resembling a reasonable room, then we recommend here. Internet, 10 pounds a day. Off a highway, not a nice place to stay. Wonderful town, terrible hotel. More

Our stay was cheap in that places to stay in Durham appear to be expensive. But Travelodge Durham definitely would not be my first preference next time: service was not very friendly; the couch/sofa bed was filthy; the tap in the shower was broken and very difficult to operate. Following is a mixture of positive and negative: The bedding was... More

First time i have ever stayed in a Travelodge and I was more than satisfied with the hotel and the service. The rooms worked out £22 per person which saved me and my friends alot of money and was the cheapest hotel to stay in on that date in the area of Durham. The staff were friendly especially the cleaner... More

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for two nights (30 Apr - 2 May) and have mixed feelings about it. On the one hand, as with most Travelodges, it represented very good value for money since the room was clean, comfortable and had everything needed. On the other hand, our stay was spoiled somewhat by being surrounded by... More

It was cheap especially because booked in advance. I was born in Durham far too may years ago and this was a personal trip though business has taken me back a number of times over the years . Have other reviewers actually tried to get a room in Durham for less than £60 ; I have and the rooms largely... More

Stayed in this hotel Tuesday 17th April – Thursday 19th April 2012 (check out date). As with any Travelodge Hotel, one word best sums up this hotel BASIC. However, this Durham Travelodge took ‘basic’ to a whole new (low) level and has to rank as the worst Travelodge I’ve stayed in. There are a couple of positive points, but I’ll... More

We stayed in this Travelodge earlier in the year and had a reasonably priced and relaxing stay in the hotel's modern annexe. Sadly our experience this time was much less favourable. We were allocated a room very close to Reception and the main entrance in the main building and couldn't get any sleep till around 3am with all the late... More

Stayed at the Travelodge at Durham in March. I was there for some meetings at the University so the location was very convenient. However, the accommodations were very basic - but I guess that's what one would expect of Travelodge. The bed was comfortable, and the room was kept clean. There is a nice little Italian restaurant beside the hotel... More

further to 100Graham we stayed at said travelodge on Saturday March 31st 2012 and would concur with his comments. We were originally booked into the New!!!Annex but having reviewed the room and found cutains hanging off the rail, a toilet seat that was wobbly at best, an ill-fitting radiator and decor that was so dour it resembled a prison cell... We've stayed here many times over the last 8 to 10 years. The main attractions were the special offer prices and the basic, clean accommodation. Durham centre is walkable along a main road. Sadly standards have steadily declined. The adjacent (as in next door) restaurant used to be run by a lovely Italian family serving good quality fare. They would... More
