We stayed at Lowther House for 4 nights in March. We were looking for somewhere quiet to stay that was close enough to walk into the town to enjoy the restaurants but far enough away to be peaceful. We were not disappointed with our choice. The 10 minute walk into town was flat and along a quiet lane, and the... More

Beside a small river, with a nice walk up through the woods, and down by the railway line which the steam train takes on the way to Whitby. We parked up our motorhome after a welcome from the hosts. In the morning we had a good breakfast at modest price before continiuing our journey.

My husband & I stayed at Lowther House for 2 nights in May 2012. The new hosts were most welcoming from the minute we inquired about a room. The house is set in a beautiful quiet spot with the Beck river running alongside and you can see the steam train chugging along in the distance. A lovely 3-course meal was... More

We had a fantastic time. The hosts were very welcoming and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. The house was clean and tidy with lots of character. The gardens were very quaint with a little stream to paddle in at the back. Perfect for a quiet get away. We had a brilliant holiday.

We turned up unannounced in January and they were fantastic, we have returned since for our mini honeymoon were they welcomed us with some lovely cake and a bottle of champagne in the room. We definately have plans to go back, Phil... More

My daughter and I loved our stay at Lowther House. The garden was beautiful and peaceful. Our room was cheerful and the bed linens were crisp. There were several local brochures and magazines which helped us plan our trip. The sound of the stream that ran beside the house was tranquil. Our wet room style bathroom was fun and the... More

We stayed at Lowther House for just one night, but would have been more than happy to stay longer. The room was clean and well decorated. The view across the garden was lovely. The owners were extremely welcoming and happy to give advice as to where to visit in North Yorkshire. The breakfast was excellent and more than enough to... More
