If you have ever imagined wanting to have a weekend away from it all, lost, staying in a sleepy country pub, with superb food, good beer and sharing banter with the locals, then this place is for you. It is set in some of Englands most stunning countryside, set in a valley below the Cat & Fiddle pass, the A537... More

The Stanley Arms is wonderful, like strepping back in time 20 or 30 years but in the right way; so we're not talking about warm beer and chicken in the basket with soggy chips; but what we are talking about is a warm welcome, a roaring fire, locals who actually like you being there (and are very helpful) and a... Great food. Delicious, piping hot and generous portions. The pie of the day, which was Lamb and mint, was tasty and filling, accompanied by chunky chips and 3 vegetables. Great value deal too, 2 courses for a tenner. Well worth a visit!

We arrived at the Stanley Arms amidst the threat of severe weather and this country pub with a roaring fire was a welcome scene. The friendly barman greeted us with a smile and checked us in to our suites, which were spacious and well appointed. After we settled in we headed straight to the warmth of the pub for a... More

I stayed at the Stanley Arms on Thursday 21st the barman was very good, I had a good bar meal and an excellent full English. In the Morning the snow had drifted and it was only possible to get into Maccclesfield with the help from the Landlord who offered me a lift in his 4x4. after trying 3 roads we... More

Having stayed at this lovely pub a couple of times before, I'm really happy to have planned another stay this July when we'll be visiting the area for the RHS Flower Show. The rooms at the Stanley Arms are lovely and clean with amazing views. The atmosphere was very welcoming and it felt very much like being in my local.... More

'A warm welcome awaits' is an over-used phrase but definitely applies to the Stanley Arms. Roaring fire, excellent beer and good, hearty, freshly prepared food. The belly pork I had last time there was the best belly pork I've ever had and nearly enough for 2! Don't let the fact that Adrian supports the wrong team in Manchester put you... More

Snow lay on the ground as we arrived but what a warm welcome we had. The room was spacious and beautifully decorated. We had the most amazing starters salmon and asparagus then we both had bottom of the oven lamb it was divine. I still had room for a podding well just about!! The sticky toffee pudding was amazing and... More

Set in a superb out of the way location with great conditioned beer spoilt by average starter & mains (a smallish slice of pre cooked meat pie although the desert (sticky toffee pudding) was excellent.

Lovely setting and excellent Sunday lunch of roast beef and yorkshire pudding with side portion of fresh vegetables. A lot of trouble had gone into decorating the pub for Christmas. Very good service. Will be visiting again.
