As I understand it the hotel this year changed ownership. I noticed a previous review said that staff were poorly trained due to this and the more recent change in internal management - this is not the case. The new staff (and the few remaining staff from previously whom I recognise) are young, enthusiastic and while one or two may... More

Decided to give it a try after hearing some good feedback recently. It was a quiet night in the bar and restaurant so the atmosphere wasnt up to much. Ordered steaks which were really great but sadly a bit on the cold side. I was too hungry to send mine back! Without going into too much detail (we gave the... More

Stayed here for one night(17th April) whilst on business in Aberdeen(23 miles).A long sweeping driveway leads to this "country house "hotel, situated on the banks of the River Dee.A lone fisherman was casting for salmon as I parked the car.Inside the hotel has a wonderful feel, roaring fires in both the bar and dining room.My bedroom had french doors leading out onto... We went to Blh for mothers day. The food is utterly lovely. We married here so it's a special place for our family but heard that recently it's changed owners. I am pleased to say it's still as good as ever. More recently we had tried out the cowshed in Banchory for lunch and liked it very much but blh... More

The previous private owner has now completed the sale and handed over to new owners. There are a few obvious changes from the past - mostly for the good. The improvements; - The previous main dining room (huge, cold and impersonal) has been changed into a function room. The previous residents lounge, next to reception, has become the new main... More

I have stayed in many of the rooms at this lovely hotel and found them all well-equipped and charming. The hotel provides perfect peace in a beautiful riverside setting. Roaring log fires in the bar and lounge add to the atmosphere. Dinner is fine but breakfast, freshly cooked, is as good as you'll find anywhere. If they had a swimming... More

If you're looking for character then this is a cracker. Set alongside the Dee (30 metres across the lawn from the hotel) it was lovely to wake up to the sound of the river. I see below a criticism of a room. I can only say they were unlucky. Mine was vast with a sitting room large enough to house... More

We stayed here for two nights for our daughter's wedding this weekend (10th December 2011). Excellent service, excellent friendly staff. Our room was spotless. Susan, the Wedding Planner, could not have done better - even somehow managed to organise the snow for the day!!!! Beautiful setting - if you want a romantic wedding The Banchory Lodge is the place. We stayed 1 night whilst attending a family wedding and were quoted £130 instead of £170. To my dismay we had a small room in which the TV was not working, a bulb had blown in the main lights, a pane of glass in the window was cracked and the clock did not work. The bathroom had no shelves and... More

Scottish charm...every room is decorated in a different unique style. Love the traditional accents and that they haven't gone NY modern. Public rooms, stairs could use updating (perhaps new carpeting) but other than that it was a wonderful place to stay. Staff could not have been friendlier. The Lodge is located right on the shores of the river, nearly all... More
