This was a beautiful B&B on the outskirts of Pistoia. Sandro, Lidia, and Daniella were very welcoming and offered a wonderful cooking course. Sandro provided excellent suggestions that were excellent and more authentic than the regular tourist trip. It is also an excellent location for large groups or small groups. The location is close enough to Pistoia to make a... More

Excellent ratings on this B&B are not overrated. Splendid B&B castle on top of a hill, with amazing view from the room and the gardens and the infinite swimming-pool, in a warm countryside atmosphere. Lovely French speaking Italian owners, very welcoming and helpful. Historic decorated and very well furnished apartment (nothing missing in the kitchen). Very convenient and peaceful place.... More

This villa is beautiful, comfortable and a perfect place to relax. Sandro and Lidia are very welcoming and caring. We had breakfast on the terrace each morning and were given excellent tips for where to go and what to look out for by Sandro. The pool was a welcome place to relax and the walk through the olive groves a... More

We stayed at the Villa San Simone for a week in late June with our two children, 13 and 16, in order to attend a wedding in nearby Montecatini. The villa was a wonderful treat, perfectly located near Pistoia, spacious, cool, and delightful. We enjoyed the swimming pool in the mornings and explored nearby villages most afternoons, always happy to... More

We found Villa San Simone as a result of an Internet search and while it looked lovely on screen, in reality it was more than we'd hoped for. Perfectly located in the hills above Pistoia with fabulous views of the ancient city, it proved to be a totally unexpected cool, very comfortable retreat. The appartment was extremely well equipped and... More

I organize culinary and wine tours to Italy for small groups and recently spent a few days at Villa San Simone. Sandro and Lidia are wonderful hosts who take great care in making guests feel at home. The property is tastefully restored -- and apartments very comfortable. We especially enjoyed relaxing at the pool that overlooks the city of Pistoia.... More

My daughter and I stayed at Villa San simone after a very busy few days travelling around Cinque Terra and San Fruitosa. It was pure delight from the moment we arrived to the time we left. You could not wish for more generous and friendly hosts than Sandro and Lydia. Not to mention the amazing food we ate while there.... More

We went to Villa San Simone mainly for the 3 day cooking school and found we were the only guests in residence. It is just outside of Pistoia up a gravel road. There is a house next door, so we were confused until Lidia answered the bell. She led us to our apartment which was very clean and large with... More

We sometimes wonder if at our age, it would'nt be better to be simply two retired architects. But when we receive rewiews as yours, we think that our activity is an exceptional opportunity for to meet interesting and pleasant people as you. Thanks of your very gracious words We have spent a nice time together and found really clever students... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Villa San Simone is only 5 kms from the 14th century walls of Pistoia, a charming city of art in Tuscany. It is an antique residence located on the slopes of the hills between Pistoia and Florence (30 min. to Florence, 40 min. to Lucca, 50 min. to Pisa or Viareggio, and 60 min. to Siena and the Chianti area). The villa was built at the end of the18th century on the ruins of a Romanesque church dating from 1000 a.d. and it took its name, San Simone. It is surrounded by an age-old olive grove and woods with deer and it has got a wide shady garden. San Simone offers four (six in 2011) full equipped apartments with every kind of comfort and it has been furnished with fine design and antiques. The owners, Lidia and Sandro, who live in the Villa, are two well known architects, who restored this building in order to live in; they will welcome you to share the peace, the elegance and the beauty of Tuscan architecture and landscape. Villa San Simone is not a luxury hotel nor a villa to rent as here you will not find austere concierges, immense halls and electronic door keys. On the contrary you will enjoy the quite elegance of the place, the comfortable furniture, the magnificent green of the garden and the surrounding woods, but above all the warm welcome that will make you feel at home.Villa San Simone has a large garden (1000 sqm.) shaded by centuries-old. trees. The garden is surrounded by olive groves and forests and peaceful private grounds of about 60.000 sqm., where deer and squirrels live. The large fenced garden surrounding the Villa is at complete disposal of the guests and it is equipped with tables and chairs, comfortable armchairs, chaise-longue, barbecue, ping pong table. At a lower level there is a small fenced vegetable and flower garden with lemon and orange trees. The Villa is surrounded by a large private park where it is possible to stroll along the stream and amongst the olive trees. ... more   less
