Perched high above the plain with fabulous views in all directions, the Castello was a fun place to spend the night. The room was comfortable with a good bed and bathroom. Breakfast was included. By taking a wrong turn we found a lovely drive through the forested hills behind Poreta.

...we were walking the San Francisco way so when we finally reached the castle after 25 minutes walk uphill from the village we were delighted to get there! We slept in a wing of the castle and had dinner inside a former Rinascimento church! Great!

Castello Di Poreta was the perfect stay for us. It came at the end of our first day on The Olive Tree Trail which goes from Spoleto to Assisi and the Castello is at the end the end of the first day's hike. After visiting Spoleto for the day, we drove 15 min North to Poreta, a very small town overlooked by a ruined wall surrounding the hotel Castello di Poreta.
