I've read the other reviews. We stayed here as a stop in a bike tour of Tuscany. It's easy to find. Check in was friendly. Room was on floor 3 (fourth floor) with one small 2 person elevator to serve hotel. We expected old...that's part of the charm, but room (309) was small, supposed to be a double but all... More

Room was huge and clean with a nice view on two balconies. Large bathroom as well. Nice amenities. Style a bit outdated but we did not care. More

Title says it all... we were quite satisfied with the hotel. It was reasonably priced, the staff looked after us well, the beds were good etc. Only issue is that the location is noisy till quite late at night and again first thing in the morning, so for a hotel without air conditioning (so you can't close the windows in... My husband and I were travelling with a group of walkers from the uk. Having checked the trip advisor reviews i was a bit worried about what we were coming to! We are glad to say that we were very pleased with our five night stay in Volterra. Even when the lady on reception was confronted with both our group... More

We stayed at the Albergo Nazionale in March. The hilltop walled town of Volterra is beautiful with outstanding views and just so Italian. It took us two trains and a bus to get there but as soon as we stepped of the bus there was our hotel. That was great. The hotel is old and the lift was tiny and... More

We have visited Volterra several times and find it to be a great little hill town--- slightly off the usual tourist path, great views and small enough to be easily maneuvered. It was one of our potential unreserved nights on a ten night trip to Italy. We easily parked in the underground garage (11 euro overnight) and the tourist office... More

We stayed Saturday night: extremely noisy location. We couldn't sleep until 3.30 am!!!! There's a bar down the street and motorbikes, cars and people shouting and laughing for the whole night. Room was clean, but terrible bed, no frigobar, no AC. Breakfast was ok. Overall the hotel looks very old. Staff was unfriendly. Location is convenient though being in the... More

Great location, but no AC, very noisy rooms and poor breakfast... One of the worst hotels I have experienced in Tuscany. More

We stayed at the Albergo Nazionale, in a "quad" or room for 4 people. Our room was clean, quiet and roomy enough. The bathroom was good sized. Breakfast was typical for Europe; pastries and jams. Coffee/tea. The hotel is located at the entrance to the town, and since Volterra is small, everything is close. The hotel locks the doors at... More

We toured northern Italy for 10 days and Volterra was the highlight of our trip. We are a 20-something couple and have never been to Europe before. We loved the building, and though it could be a tiny bit noisy it wasnt nearly as bad as in the major cities (Florence and Venice), and it didnt really bother us. Parking... More
