We stayed for 3 nights as part of a Great Rail Journeys holiday in May. During the time of our stay the holiday was actually shut (as was most of Kandersteg) for "Betriebsferien" but prepared to open for groups only. This meant that none of the leisure facilities were open (pool and sauna) and some renovation work was underway. Unfortunately... More

I have recently returned from a holiday in Switzerland with a group tour and spent 3 nights here. Even though the food was very tasty and the staff very helpful and friendly, the room/s were a great disappointment, needs serious renovation and modernization. oh yeah and the leisure facilities such as the gym and swimming pool were closed as well,... Stayed three nights as part of group. Hotel closed to other guests as between seasons. We were well looked after, improvements underway to some rooms. The location is great lots to do in all seasons. Would recommend rooms at the back of the hotel as less traffic noise early but all rooms very good. Good food.

We have just returned from a week's cross country skiing in Kandersteg. Hotel was really lovely and contrary to some other reports, food was excellent. Hotel pool is great, rooms very clean and comfortable though a little bit dated. Slightly grumpy woman at reception though generally staff were very helpful, polite and wanted to make our stay comfortable. We ordered... More

Stayed 3 nights with Great Rail Journeys. Evidently the rooms vary a lot in their current state: ours was large, our 3rd-floor main-block bedroom looked recently renovated, bathroom was spacious and loo-with-a-view but not so upgraded: shower was attached to wall at shoulder height only, and tiling a bit of a muddle. Bed very comfortable, good bedside lights, quiet. Good... More

I stayed three nights as part of a group tour in early March 2013. The hotel lounge and dining area is impressive with elegance from yesteryear. The hotel is undergoing a gradual program of improving its rooms and on this occasion mine was one of those still to be renewed with decor from the late 60s and furniture from the... More

We stayed for 3 nights as a group holiday. The reception, lounge and dining areas are very beautiful and elegant. A sort of grandeur from a bygone age. Very pleasant. Our room on the 4th floor had stunning mountain views. It was comfotable, clean, and quite spacious. No complaints, though others on our trip had faults with their rooms. But... More

This is a comfortable and well appointed hotel in the centre of the village of Kandersteg. The staff are friendly and well trained and the rooms comfortable. It is an excellent base for exploring the valley and the slopes. The indoor pool is a welcome retreat from the freezing weather and has wonderful views of the mountains. The food was... More

The main parts of the hotel are extremely impressive with its massive but comfy bar/lounge area with more than enough sofas to sunggle up on. The dining room is outstanding with its long tables, chandeliers, and lovely big glass doors. Next noteworthy area is the staff- lovely, friendly, approachable staff. Most of the ones you deal with on a regular... More
