Thought the place was deserted when we arrived until we realised that the reception had been shifted to the hotel. It was a dark and rainy night and it felt very isolated. Room had no fridge which was very annoying and we were unable to get TV reception. Nothing to do except shower and sleep, which was very nice until... More

Dear MichelleAG2013 Thank you for your comments, we value your feedback very much and we take them very seriously. I do apologize for the noise that woke you up so early. Our front team should have allocated you a room away from the groups and they have been reminded. Haast is not connected to the power grid and runs on... More

The hosts were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Grounds were very attractive (great for families). The room was very nice, tidy, clean and very comfortable. It certainly had everything I needed. The bed was very comfortable as well. I'll certainly be back the next time.

Had it been warm this room would have been scruffy but okay. However we had a stormy night and the windows and doors were totally inadequate. The draughts were spectacular, only helped by pulling the curtains and padding with the spare blanket. The reception gave us a tiny electric fire which was very welcome. The noise of rain on the... Dear mfeakln Firstly, I do apologize; in no way we hope that any of our guests have such a bad experience, the terrible weather unfortunately made things worse. Thank you for the comments in regards to the staff and we try our best to make our guests comfortable. We believe our food prices are reasonable given our location. Kind regards... More

This was a nice enough place if you find yourself in the middle of nowhere. The room was clean and had all we needed, but it cost $20 for us both to have internet access. Finding we could have got the room $30 cheaper online instead of booking through their sister hotel in Queenstown didn't impress us either. But the... More

Haast has a lot of history but now there is nothing there except from accommodation, West Coast beauty and penguins. If you need to spend the night there Heartland is a good one to pick. Nothing special though and quite pricey food at the restaurant. Did not like being charged $20 for Internet use for the evening, $5 would be... More

Dear Knutus, Thank you for visiting our little corner of New Zealand. You must have chosen the family option which allows up to five in a room to use the internet at the same time. Our Internet options vary from $5-$20.00. Our food prices are priced reasonably based on our location. We hope to see you again in the future... More

We stayed for the night while visiting the glaciers, and found the room we stayed in spacious for our family of 2 adults and 3 kids. The food at the restaurant was very good and the atmosphere felt quite homely. It was also great to have a nice coffee when so far out of the main city.

Like many tourists travelling New Zealand's South Island west coast route, we stayed overnight at this Haast motel. It is easily found right by the highway, and provided a spacious motel style room with every amenity we expected, including a good laundry room. The restaurant serves as the hub of the village's social life and was lively and buzzy with... More

Dear Richard W, Thank you for sharing your experience with others. With the isolation we strive to give our guests a good enough experience. You had a chance to experience the friendly locals and a bit of the Haast nightlife, which normally finishes well before midnight. Thank you once again and hope you visit us again. Great pub food, cold beer and friendly staff. Room was clean the bed was a bit small but comfortable. Slept well and looked around the area the next day. A good enough stop to break the long arduous drive between points.

Fantastic venue. Rare establishment. Great management. Value for money. Environment friendly. Nice common area. Yummy breakfast menu. Decent bed, tv and clean bathroom. The motel is a bit worn but was clean at least.
