This pub looks quite simple as you drive past, but stop at the car park right next to it and step inside to experience a truly relaxing atmosphere. We had a family evening meal. We sat in a snug fire warmed room on comfy sofas. Having chosen meals based on local produce we moved into the light and airy restaurant.... More

Went for lunch on a quiet Thursday in May. The owners were on holiday but the stand-in staff were competent and friendly. A good range of real ale on tap and a simple menu with a good balance of items to choose from. Two of the party had starters, the home-made mackerel pate, and the potato and leek soup. Both... More

A real gem. Owners are great, very friendly, can't do enough for you. Food is fab and a great selection of real ales. Locals are friendly and it was great to sit in front of an open fire after a walk with a pint. Thoroughly recommend it.

Family sunday lunch - those that had beef said 'really tasty", those that had pork said 'lovely & with crackling!' Really warm & friendly pub, separate dining room or eat in the bar, booking probably best as a popular pub with walkers. Families with children are welcome and we enjoyed the lovely play area opposite the pub, which was handy... More

Can't review the food as I've never tried it but as a pub it's great. Good beer, well kept. Nice open fires in the winter. Recommended. Very welcoming to walkers, cyclist and such. Regular quiz night, food provided. Restaurant attached and accommodation. Would recommend to people searching for a traditional country pub. So many pubs have been ruined through modernisation,... We stayed for two nights over the Easter weekend and what a great stay it was. We were given a choice of rooms and after much deliberation we opted for the one with the four poster if only because it was slightly larger than the others, which were all beautiful. Friendly staff and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Breakfast was very... More

What a lovely friendly pub, we were staying locally and found the pub on a walk. It had real ales and log fires and really friendly staff who chatted about local attractions and provided bar nibbles. Would recommend a visit if you are in the area. Never got a chance to sample the menu but it smelt and looked lovely.

A lovely traditional Derbyshire village pub with a good selection of beer and ales, some not for the faint hearted! Friendly landlord and staff. We called in for a midweek lunchtime meal on a very cold and snowy day. The wood burning stoves and central heating were very welcome and made the bar and dining room cosy and warm. The... More

We stayed here for one night in February as a base for some local walks in the peak district. Our top floor room was charming, even if the sloping ceiling meant a few bumps on the head, and the Inn itself was very quaint and the decor had a lot of nice personal touches. We were first shown another room... More
